Making this run that should give me Plt for this year. $716.00. Doing it on a weekend. The way I figured the miles is 1235-1745-500(min)-1592-1235 for a total of EQM 6307 with the double bonus should be 12,614. All the segments are O except for the last one which is a V.

When I was doing my search I was finding cheap flights to DTW / MIA / ORD / LAX

Wow.

Overpaid doesn't begin to cover it.

For 695 USD you could do a 3-hour turn DFW-FRA-DFW any weekend you like, and earn 20,570 EQM.

(BTW, I still think that's expensive. We've not seen cheap AA/OneWorld fares to Europe yet for the winter...)

I hope for that insane price you have a refundable ticket, or it's booked in F. (oops, O and V class != F) :(

As the previous poster stated, FRA or even HNL would be a better deal and destination.

Coincidentally, there's a rerun of Deal or No Deal playing in the background...

As I read the OP's post, the TV was blasting "NO DEAL".

Didn't know the TV was spying on me nor that smart.

The segment in V pushes up the cost a lot. See if you can find all-O or do a different MR.

Welcome to one of our newest FT members and 'Bill S' fans(?), BN2B. ^

As you can see, I've moved this to Mileage Run Discussion because it's starting point to discuss the better options and much lower cost MR fares (with FRA and HNL options mentioned already).

Hopefully this feedback will allow the OP to get the fare refunded and look at the alternatives.

Cheers,

Apologies... where's my manners? (probably off sitting on a MR somewhere)

Welcome to Flyertalk BN2B!

Don't be discouraged by what was previously said; if you can't find a fare any cheaper or fits your requirements, then it's good enough.

But if you look around the MR Deals or wait for a particularly attractive fare to come around; you'll more than likely get a better deal.

Just as a point of reference, people will fly around for around 3 cents per mile (CPM), if their geographic location allows for them to take advantage of the cheap flights.

Good luck!

If you can't find a fare any cheaper, you aren't trying hard enough. Example: DFW-BOS, $232 all-in, 3124 miles. Do 2, 6248 miles, 12496 EQM, $464.

You could do better than that too. Check out my post on a DFW-originated MR here:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mileage-run-discussion/1012882-aa-dfw-bos-sfo-bos-dfw-463-40-ai-2-72-cpm.html

You get 17,064 miles -- with DEQM factored in -- for 2.77 cpm. (AA has raised the rates by $10 since I posted that message :() But it is still the best MR I could find out of DFW for that much money for Nov 14-15th.

BTW, DFW-FRA-DFW for Nov 14-15th has now gone up to $752, making it less desirable.

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on the DFW-BOS-SFO-BOS-DFW run today...

Good luck!

Thanks for the newbee bashing. It did not appear I could do a transcon since I wanted to do this in one weekend and most of the fares I looked up had min stay requirements. I know the cost / mile is high but if you are in a situation like me and can't take a day during the week this seemed like a good option to hit my status for the year. I am doing it in basically 24 hrs if the connections go smooth. It also appeared to be about the lowest cost run I could find for that weekend out of DFW. docykm also found one with more miles but in the same price range. I did not see that one. This is the first time I have ever done an MR so if you have any pointers I am all ears...

With more time on my hands next year I will be looking for more guidance to reduce the amt of hard earned dollars I have to spend since it seems travel for many of us is less than it has been in the past.

I wouldn't catorgize the responses as newbie bashing, but instead honesty. You have joined a large community, would you prefer posts that only supported what you were doing or honest ones from people trying to help you out? Flyertalk is about the latter.
