Qantas Frequent Flyer - Is there a thread about passenger loads

I thought it may be interesting to keep an up to date reference to the days that some routes may have lighter loads for upgrade purposes although I do understand that QF is not adverse to empty seats in premium classes in lieu of opups or points upgrades.

But then again those that know may like to remain silent.

I thought it was pretty easy to work out by doing research based on ticket pricing and checking upgrade availability.

Also the load varies by day of week, month, quarter, conventions, school holidays .... lots of factors that cause huge variation. So you still have to check your specific flight. I was once on a CX flight where the entire F cabin had been bought by a single family (and they were quite displeased to have me there, I had booked before them and was the only non-family F pax). Lots of things can affect loads.

I find that quite funny! Poor family had to put up with you being in "their cabin":rolleyes::rolleyes:

They should have got that private jet

Don't fly an Arab carrier then; happened a few times to me on GF in F. A very odd feeling to be the 'outsider' in a small cabin.

That's not specific to an Arab carrier! I had it happen out of Cairo on BA as well.

Re Upgrades. In J and F the load will indeed vary up until 48 hours prior. Full J and F fares can be reserved without payment to 48 hours prior on QF.

I hate the new upgrade system, was much better when you could confirm the upgrade earlier. The best option now is to simply redeem points for a J or F booking rather than request an upgrade. Even as WP if the requested upgrade cabin is full, your status is of no use.
