Southwest Rapid Rewards - Complimentary A-list membership
I logged onto MySouthwest for another reason this morning, and was surprised to see that I was "on the A-list". I'm always lurking just below A-list qualifications (right now I'm at 81%, but I always seem to drop flights from a year ago at the same rate that I add them).
Upon further review, I seem to have a "Complimentary" A-list membership good for November 1-30, 2009. This is nice, I guess, although this may be the one month where I don't fly at all.
Anybody else get this complimentary A-list deal? Other than the obvious encouragement to get me to fly more on WN, anything else going on here?

I'm currently at 75% (8 more to go) and did not get it. I'd really like to have it for the Sunday after Thanksgiving...

I'm at 29 and didn't get it either, but I do have flights booked from next week through first week of December that earn both A list and CP... So they'd be wasting it on me, as I'll get it anyway...

I was 3 segments shy of A-list and they granted it to me in the last day or so, just noticed it.
Card came today wrapped in a square silver cardboard wrapping, like a gift.
Mine is good through end of November.
I'll happily use it when flying to Vegas next week.

I'm 25 shy of a companion pass, I wish they would gift me one of those.

I'm about 30 over for the next CP with over a month to go, I wish they'd let me gift some of those (or at least roll them over). :D

Yes, this would be a godsend. I'd never have to throttle back on the RR credits from rental cars and credit cards, as I am now though April.
How about a husband/wife mutual RR account where if you get to 200 in a year, you both can have a Companion Pass? Or let spouses transfer?

Interesting - UA has been granting status to individuals who are within 1000 miles of the target mileage for their elite levels. Is this a trend?

I guess what strikes me as odd about this is that it's not clear what WN is trying to do here. They aren't granting me much status - a month of A-list is hardly the same as waiving the last few credits for year-long A-list or CP status (or 1K on UA).
Even odder is the fact that I don't have any flights booked for November. If I had some flights, the logic would be "let's give SWSNA a taste of A-list, and maybe that will encouage some more flying." However, since I'm not flying, I'd have to buy more tickets just to take advantage of the short-term free A-list, which would be enough to put me into A-list anyway.
I'm probably reading too much into WN's marketing strategies - they probably just said "let's give some short-term A-list to people who fly a fair bit. Computer guys - make it happen." Still, my approach would have been to email people and say "we've given you A-list for your next 2/4/6/whatever flights to try it out."

I did, I am at 72% short of reg A list... and it was like pulling teeth getting WN to modify my november reservation. However, this was mostly because at the time CS had not heard of this promo. My advice is to call and verify that any reservations you have booked prior to getting this promo be modifed. They should issue a new confirmation number.
I did, and pulled A22 for OKC to PHX today..too bad OKC has no fly by lane!
I only had the one flight reserved for November, and none at least until 2nd quarter 2010.
You should be getting a temp card in the mail.

they may have given it to you for November because they saw you had no Nov reservations and they wanted to encourage you to fly with them.
