I read that they will receive their first 777 in November. Does anyone know what route it cover?

Rumor has it that they will have Weber seats. Anyway, as to deployment, word has it that it may be sent to Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Vancouver and the ever-high density MNL-CEB. A 77W base will be established in Cebu the last time I heard. However, word also has been circulating that PAL is planning a return to Europe and the Middle East using 77Ws. naswi Nov 11, 09, 2:12 am Got a tweet from FlyPay (twitter) that their first 77W will be for the Japan, Hong Kong, Sydney route. naswi Nov 16, 09, 9:11 pm YouTube video of the 77W with the date of Nov 24 as its first flight. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPpnoLOct00 Conundrums Nov 18, 09, 3:29 am There is a picture of the RP-C777 touching down in Seattle - Boeing Field, is this where the turnover will happen? http://www.airlinefan.com/airline-photos/4719035/Philippine-Airlines/Boeing/777-300/RP-C777/ I was looking at the Mabuhay magazine this morning and noticed that the controller on the IFE system on the 777 is different from the one installed on the 747. It actually looks like the ones used in CX. But the movies for "Long Haul and Medium Haul flights" are less than those being offered on the 747, any thoughts why this is the case? terminalc Nov 19, 09, 7:54 am PR has the 773 seat map (http://www.philippineairlines.com/Images/B777%20Seat%20Map_tcm61-16797.pdf) posted. C is 2-3-2. I could live with that. Y is 3-4-3. There's not a chance above or below that I'll do that. Very disappointing. superdawg Nov 19, 09, 11:02 am Looks like maiden flight is PR300 Manila to Hong Kong on Nov 24 and they are offering 777 Bonus Mabuhay miles on that flight only per Frequent Flyer Bonuses (http://www.frequentflyerbonuses.com/mabuhay.html) Akiestar Nov 19, 09, 4:52 pm According to PEx, routes covered by the 77W for now are HKG, NRT, SYD and MEL. HKG will receive them from November 24 (the maiden flight) to January 10 for PR 300/301 and PR 306/307, while NRT will receive them on December 18-19. On the days NRT receives the 77W, MEL and SYD will receive the 744, and HKG will receive the 744/A330. Anyway, before we jump to conclusions over the 3-4-3 layout in Fiesta Class, here's some interior cabin shots of the 77W, courtesy of flight_083 at PEx. The overhead Bins... I love the design.. made the cabin look spacious and less cramped. http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk243/eymarquez083/B777ER/IMG_0448.jpg http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk243/eymarquez083/B777ER/IMG_0449.jpg SEE! http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk243/eymarquez083/B777ER/IMG_0454.jpg Mabuhay Class. The seat is incredibly spacious for economy class against the B747s. Its like I was seated on an exit row on the A319/A320. Having a 3-4-3 configuration on this aircraft turned out to be simply amazing.. I could still walk pass the aisle with no hassle. Even if the passenger infront of me reclines his seat.. My legs are still well placed, relaxed and rested. Fiesta Class Having problem where to place your cup of coffee?... or water glass or bottle?.. This might just fit in... http://i282.photobucket.com/albums/kk243/eymarquez083/B777ER/IMG_0455.jpg Fiesta Class... It does look like a nice product. Certainly better than anything VN has to offer :) I guess that we can confirm that C does have Recaro seats. The controls look much easier to operate than those on LH's seats. Akiestar Nov 20, 09, 12:22 pm Apparently the hard product is irrelevant as VN is entering SkyTeam next year, remember? ;) terminalc Nov 20, 09, 6:10 pm Apparently the hard product is irrelevant as VN is entering SkyTeam next year, remember? ;) :) Totally irrelevant. The Y seats are interesting. The AVOD control is mounted under the PTV screen instead of the arm. I guess that's necessary to get 3-4-3. Also interesting that the J seats colors don't match the 744s. No big deal, just curious. ACORD Nov 21, 09, 8:15 pm As for routes, I think MNL-YYZ is high on both PR and AC minds. AC have a landing slot at MNL by virtue of the acquisition of Canadian Airlines but I'm not optimistic we'll see AC fly to Manila in the current environment. Work Visa applications for Pinoys travelling to Canada have plummeted in 2009. If AC were to put on a route it would likely be from the West Coast IMO |
