bmi diamond club - TK F vs. Possible NH F vs. Already tried LX F

Hello,

it's come to that time of the year again when I'll be returning home to see my folks in Edinburgh. At present I am ticketed through DC flying out from NRT to EDI with Asiana in C. Taxes are spectacularly low on this ticket and I am pleased with the timings etc. It is the return trip that is giving me a headache. At present I am booked CPH-LHR-NRT. The LHR-NRT is ticketed on ANA in Business. Ideally I would like to upgrade to NH F but it is waitlist only. I am well aware of how rare NH F award tickets are and to get one come up nearer the time is a bit of a lottery. So I was considering rerouting via IST to try out their new 777 F which I missed out on for my trip to IST in the summer. I have read and re-read the various reviews of TK F and the consensus seems to be great seat, good food, average IFE and slightly unpolished service. Using the ANA tool I can see that there is a seat available in F but not on the day I was planning to leave in January but the day after which would mean taking a day off work. The alternative is LX. I flew them in March and was very impressed with the service, seat and food-a stone winner. However, I'd like to try something different. Your thoughts and opionions as always are gratefully received.

You can't go wrong with either ;)

This is my opinion based on only one flight in F with the respective airlines:

Best seat: 1. TK, 2. NH, 3. LX
Best service: 1. NH, 2. LX, 3. TK
Best food: 1. NH, 2. LX, 3. TK
Best drinks: 1. LX, 2. TK, 3. NH
Best lounge: 1. LX, 2. NH, 3. TK

Although TK served Sevruga caviar, I still prefer the Wagyu steak at NH!

Personally I'd go for NH, just because you can hardly ever get availability with them - you'll be in an exclusive club.

I haven't flown F much with these airlines. Although I have flown TK F twice and LX F 5 times. This might not be good enough to give a valuable comparison but personally I would rate the LX experience way above TK. Sure TK had a great seat and it is very private but the service was terrible in my opinion and definitely not what you would expect in F. LX on the other hand is consistently fantastic (and IMO better than the likes of SQ). The lounge, the service, the drinks, the food are all fantastic. Even the seat, despite not being very private is very comfortable and makes a very comfortable bed.
I have heard from others that NH F is the best. Personally if I were you I would go for NH F if availability crops up. If not then I would choose LX over TK because with LX you are guaranteed a perfect F experience ^
