Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Help, can't view Cathay Pacific res (using AAdvantage miles) itinerary!

I booked a Business Class award on Cathay Pacific using AAdvantage miles but I can't view my itinerary on Cathay Pacific's website. I called Cathay Pacific and American Airlines to ask for the Cathay Pacific PNR, got the same PNR from both airlines, but it doesn't work on Cathay Pacific's website (my reservation could not be found). What could be wrong? How can I view my itinerary so I can check in online for my flight?
Thanks.

It was discussed here although with no definitive answer:

Why is it so important to check in online for your flight?

If you already have seat selected, then its all fine. If not, call CX res then and make your seat request.

The problem is that I'm transferring in HKG to PVG (flying CX). I'm flying SIN - HKG on SQ and would like to check through my luggage (I have 1h:45m to transfer). But since I can't access my reservation I'm worried SQ won't be able to check through my baggage from SIN all the way to PVG.

SQ don't need access to your reservation to check your luggage through - all they need is to be convinced that you are indeed travelling on to PVG through sight at checkin of your e-ticket printout or similar.

I have a AAdvantage booking on CX in J. I called CX and asked for the record locator and they gave me the CX locator in no time. It is different from the one I got from AA, but it works on the CX web site. If the agent will not give it to you, hang up and call back, if you keep calling you will find one that will help. The CX record locator will not let you change anything on your booking, all you can do is look at the booking and seats, nothing more.

I got the CX record locator from both AA and CX and it doesn't work (can't view it on CX website). CX told me it's because I booked a CX award with AAdvantage miles. I'll try calling CX again (spoke with 2 different agents already). I'm afraid a "surprise" will be waiting for me when I check in for my CX flight...

Just to make sure, is the CX record locator a combination of 5 letters/numbers?

Also, when you booked your CX flight with AA, did they insist on putting your middle name and/or title (eg. MR) in the "names" field of your booking?

If this is the case, when pulling up your reservation on the CX website, you will need to enter the following in the "Given Name" box:

"FIRSTNAME MIDDLENAME TITLE" (you may need to try it with both spaces and no spaces between the items, and with and without the title in various combinations before you can retrieve the booking)

When booking CX flights using AAdvantage miles, I only provide AA with my First and Last Name (even if they insist on my other names). I then login to the CX website and input my full name and passport details myself for APIS purposes. Note: If there is APIS data in a PNR, SecureFlight data (which AA insists on) is not required.

you are correct, my CX record locator has letters/numbers and my AA record locator is always letters.

You are a GENIUS!!! I followed your instructions and voila! I can now view my reservation on CX's website. In the given name field I typed my first name followed by a space and then my middle name. Prolem solved!!! How did you know what to do? Fantastic!!! Thanks!!!

I believe daniellam is a pseudoTA (cf pseudomodel :D ) so I guess that's how. Very useful info to know though...

daniellam is indeed a genius. I do not have this problem normally as I always log on as a member. However, this situation also happened when I ticketed my upgrade three months ago. There was a discrepancy with my name between the underlying ticket and the upgrade booking. One had a MR after my name while the other did not. When I called to ticket my upgrade, the MPC agent had to manually edit before ticketing.

This is great and should go in the CX FAQ and the AA Wiki.
