Today I flew from Rochester to LAX on CO connecting in EWR. While boarding the plane at EWR, a guy walked up the Elite Access lane and pulled out his AS MVPG card (am assuming he is a new MVPG, because he has the new contemporary/modern looking MVPG card) and showed the card to the GA. The agent let him board, since he walked up the Elite boarding lane when the general boarding just began.

I did not bother asking him where he got the idea that an AS MVPG can utilize the Elite Access lane when flying on Continental, or am I missing something here?

The AS partnership with CO ended about a week ago. My guess is the gate agent didn't know or didn't care.

CO gate agents often don't challenge people who walk across the blue carpet when they're really not entitled.

Nominate for best answer... But yes, that MVPG may be disappointed when their miles don't post

Oh really? If you were an MVPG in 08, and you renewed your MVPG status this year, you wouldnt get the 09 card until probably nov or dec? He had the 09 card already, so I assumed it was possible he is a newbie MVPG.

It is possible the GA didnt give a flying rat's butt, because there were over 40 elites on the plane, so too much hassle trying to filter everyone out.

I agree with Beckoa! :D And yeah, wouldn't be surprised if he is sitting in front of his computer right now refreshing his Skymiles account waiting for his miles to post. :p

No, I'm pretty sure the cards that expire 12/09 or 12/10 look the same. Any other card would be expired. Besides, if you were MVPG in 08...it wouldn't matter. What would matter is that you had MVPG for 09 or 10, which would be on the new card.
