Hyatt Gold Passport - Do free nights count as nights for status?

I thought no, then as I was booking one of my FFN, the agent (Diamond line) told me that it's a "stay" that counts towards status. Flyer-talkers, is she correct? (If so, I'll be using my points for status nights). I know Hilton does this, points nights count for status, but I always thought (and the T and C's seem to indicate) that you have to pay for nights for them to count for Hyatt.
Thanks!

No - award nights (points or FFNs) do not count towards status unless its by mistake which does happen occasionally but do not count on it.

From T&C (http://goldpassport.hyatt.com/gp/en/benefits/terms_conditions_details.jsp?content_id=4190&cat_id=16&wt=):
To receive credit toward Hyatt Gold Passport tier status, a member must pay an Eligible Rate for at least one night of their stay. A stay is defined as the total number of consecutive nights spent at one property. Back-to-back stays within a 24-hour period at a single Hyatt are considered one stay. A member will not receive Hyatt Gold Passport credit toward tier status or toward any promotion for the nights the member pays an Ineligible Rate.
they aren't supposed to. But make sure you charge something to the room. Anything--a newspaper, a bottle of soda, parking, something.
Once in a great while, the charge will trigger a stay credit. But don't complain if it doesn't. It's not supposed to count.

if it's any consolation, Hilton's program works the same way.

Called back, quoted what I was told the first time, asked about the mismatch with the t and c's and the second agent confirmed free nights do not count. The first agent sounded so sure, she had me disbelieving the t and c's.

No, as reward stays count toward VIP tier qualification (http://hhonors1.hilton.com/en_US/hh/about/memlevels.do;jsessionid=23DE752A6C1137D3DCED2F91F4 D54A70.etc44)!
