Marriott Rewards - Marriott Leeds or Hollins Hall, UK

There are 2 Marriott properties in or near Leeds, UK.

Hollins Hall and Marriott Leeds.

Both are category 4 and that should tell me that they're far from nice, but I'm looking for input.

I am going to be staying at 1 over new years this year.

I've stayed at both. Leeds Marriott is right in the City Centre so is very convenient if that's where you want to be. Service was excellent and the hotel was very nice. We had a meal at the hotel's Georgetown (Malaysian) restaurant which was superb and we also had a drink in John T's bar.

Hollins Hall is a bit 'out in the sticks' as it is a Country Club with a golf course. Again, very good service and a great meal in the restaurant. A nice place to relax.

The choice really comes down to whether you need to be in the city centre or not.

Like Glenn, I've stayed in both. there is simply no means of comparing the two.

Leeds Marriott is in the centre of Leeds, a vibrant, resurgent city undergoing extensive regeneration. For a lively new year, its a good idea, although nothing beats Edinburghs Hogmonay! Rooms are a good size (for Europe) and well kept. Its a very good property and you needn't be put off on the basis its a cat4. Certainly in the UK, Cat4 Marriotts are of a good standard!

Hollins Hall is on the edge of Bradford and designated a Country club with extensive grounds and a respected golf course, which I thoroughly enjoyed playing! You'll be nowhere near any other new year celebrations although they do run a new years package that includes a meal and a live band + disco. I did this a few years ago with some friends and it was very good but, disappointingly, didn't include fireworks. The bar stayed open till the last man standing and the atmosphere was a real celebration! Again, dont be put off that its a cat4.
