InterContinental Hotels: Priority Club & Inter-Continental Ambassador - F&F Rate + Advanced Rate = Points??

I'm planning a 2 night stay at an IC and would like to book as follows:

1st night: Advanced rate purchase
2nd night: F&F rate

Technically, I should get points + 1 qualifying night but I want to be sure before booking and I don't really want to tip the hotel off on my intentions (in case they tell me it's not doable in order to get me to book advanced rate for both nights).

Anyone with experience doing the above? Doesn't matter if you got the points/qualifying night or not, I would like to hear your experience!

In theC you are getting flat points per stay not depend on the number of nights (I'm not talking about bonus points that related to number of days). If you book 2 night as you wrote on the same IC you will get the the points (for the first day).

For the qualify nights you will get the first as for the second got once for F&F but not for one other stay.

@ym1: Is this from your personal experience? Hypothetically this should be the case but I've heard real-life cases that were quite different (i.e. no points or qualifying nights given).

Real experience, my reservation was more complex I had Advance 2 days, Award 1 day, F&F 1 day got points for the stay for the 2 advance days (2 days qualify only). F&F 1 day alone got 1 day qualify, was in 2 different IC.

You're entitled to the flat 2,000 points due to one night at the AP rate. If it doesn't post correctly, correcting it shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks guys!

Here's a trickier question. If I book 3 consecutive nights as follows:

1st night: Advanced purchase rate
2nd night: F&F rate
3rd night: Advanced purchase rate

Would I be entitled to 2 qualifying nights and 2x 2,000 points? Even though it's technically one stay, one could argue that the 2nd night is non-qualifying and thus does not count as a stay. In that case the 1st and 3rd nights could be construed as 2 different stays. Would that be stretching it?

No, but you may luck out. You are clearly not, though, entitled to that.

Yes. "A Stay is defined as one night or consecutive nights at the same hotel, regardless of frequency of check-in/check-out." http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/pc/1/en/c/2/content/dec/pc/0/en/ptc.html

To get 2 x 2000 you must have one day off between day 2 to 3.

You could use a different PC account for the 2nd night F&F rate assuming you will be travelling with someone. That should then count as 2 seperate stays, but you might have to check out and in each day and change rooms.

The "points per stay" regime at ICs might seem unfair, but it's a pretty simple concept to grasp. You get a pocketful-full of points for each uninterrupted set of nights staying at the hotel.

There's a separate award of 20K points after 15 nights to sort-of make up for the injustice.
