Looking through past posts, there seem to be mixed reports. Has anyone had any experience lately with the BOGO EEO nights and whether or not they count towards elite status?

Has anyone had any experience lately with the BOGO EEO nights and whether or not they count towards elite status? I have received credit towards elite status at 4 different Marriott properties using EEO certificates. Both nights are credited, the paid night and the free night! Last June I also scored under the double nights promo, stayed 2 nights on an EEO cert, paid for only 1 night but got 4 nights credit for the stay! gardener Nov 2, 09, 10:04 am My recent experience was the opposite - used a BOGO in July in MI, got credit for only one night. Years ago in TPA I stayed at both a Ren and a Marriott and got both nights. MarkedMan Nov 2, 09, 10:58 am It depends on how they process the free night - in some cases they have credited the folio, in another they just eliminated the night alltogether, so it looked like you stayed one less night than you did. If they do the former and credit the value of one night's stay then the system will still think you stayed the full number of nights, just paid less for them. If they do the latter, then per the system you stayed one less night, and will not get credit. I've had both happen to me. pinniped Nov 2, 09, 11:01 am It used to be about 50-50. The folio would show the 2nd night's rate followed by a credit. My last couple have only shown the 1 paid night. No line items at all referencing a 2nd night. BrightlyBob Nov 2, 09, 11:42 am I have never considered this so had a look at my stats, and yes, my EEO's (so far this year) have been counted in full towards status. I think there was something on another thread about this, looked but couldn't find it. If I remember rightly the arguments in favour were that the butt was in the bed, and the stay was paid. The competing argument being that Marriott don't give credit for butt in bed on reward stays (I think only Hilton does that) AND since with EEO the actual night is free, it would seem to be in line with Marriott policy not to credit that night. On the other hand, nights credit for having their CC do count, even though the butt is nowhere near a bed  The jury is, it seems, out on this one, but with or without nights credit, EEO remains a major benefit of the scheme for Gold/Plat members IMHO! bsb21 Nov 2, 09, 1:51 pm Has anyone tried contacting Marriott about getting credit for the second night? What do the T & C's say? travelismylife Nov 2, 09, 2:44 pm I have never considered this so had a look at my stats, and yes, my EEO's (so far this year) have been counted in full towards status.
