Symposium

Just got the following in an e-mail from DC:

How would you like triple destinations miles and triple status miles on every flight during November?

Simply register before 6 November 2009 and take two return bmi flights to qualify. You'll earn triple miles on these and any subsequent flights during the month.

The terms and conditions are at http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/diamond-club/diamond-club/promotions/november09act-bonusmiles-388.aspx

For completeness:

This offer is only available to the named recipient of this email and is non transferable
You must register for this promotion by clicking the link with the email; if you do not register for this promotion you will not be eligible for the reward at the end of the promotion
To qualify for triple destinations and triple status miles you must fly two return bmi operated flights (four one way flights), excluding codeshare, award flights or bmibaby flights, and register them on your Diamond Club account between 1-30 November 2009
All miles earned from this promotion will be credited to your Diamond Club account by 16 December 2009 as one credit and are non transferable
Any retrospective claims submitted /credited to your Diamond Club account after 16 December 2009 for flights taken during the qualifying period will not change the level of miles earned under this promotion
Only one application per named recipient will be accepted irrespective of the number of qualifying flights made during the qualifying period
bmi will automatically delete/remove any duplicate/surplus applications and or duplicate miles added
Standard Diamond Club terms and conditions apply
bmi Diamond Club reserves the right to change or alter this promotion at any time.

Anyone else get this?

Mine was double status / destinations. Fly once to qualify.

I got Fly Twice, Get Treble Destination miles. Same T&C's as in the first post.

Nice enough - shame BMI's route network is incompatible with me these days :(

Got the triple mile / two returns offer.

Very nice indeed, and better than the one they had last year where I believe you had to choose between destination or status miles.

Got the triple mile / two returns offer.

Got the same here.....for a change.

Unfortunately I'm already all EI'd up this month. Thankfully, while triple status miles would have been great, I don't need them.

Double destinations miles offer for me, nothing (yet) for Mrs Roger.

Nothing at all for me :(. As I am already flying every week, maybe they have decided I don't need enticing...

Edit.... How spooky. A double destinations miles / one flight email arrived as I was posting my previous post... Shame I have already booked for the next few weeks :(

I got a similar note but mine is for double miles. I am obviously not as important (just got my gold thru a status match).

Triple status and dest miles for me, double status and dest miles for MrsLonLH. Am flying to MXP on LH flight which is operated by BD plus a R/T to DME- not sure the LHR-MXP-LHR flight would count- it is a LH flight on BD metal.

Nothing yet on my own account, but two other aco....s in the family just got:
Fly one return bmi flight, get double destination miles
(only double destination miles, not status).

Got the triple / 2 flights offer. As with kevincm not a lot of use for me as bmi have a pretty useless route network for my needs these days too.

Hopefully some of the DME and TLV regulars can make hey with this. Paging clubman - this one is for you! :D

I got the fly once, double miles. My offer only says double status miles though, no mention of destination miles. Shame they stopped flying to LAS/ORD otherwise would probably have done a trip.

I got this:

Simply register before 6 November 2009 and take one return bmi flight to qualify. You'll earn double miles on this and any subsequent flights during the month.

Emphasis mine. I understand the one r/t has to be on BD metal, but does "any subsequent flights" mean all qualifying destination mile earning flights, or also only BD flights?

I understand the one r/t has to be on BD metal, but does "any subsequent flights" mean all qualifying destination mile earning flights

'In your dreams' is the politically correct answer. As you surmised, these are always BD metal ONLY.

double destinations miles and double status miles // one return bmi operated flight (two one way flights)
triple destinations miles and triple status miles // two return bmi operated flights (four one way flights)

Too short of a notice anyway to have any effect on my travel anyway. Now it this offer included UA ;) that would be a sweet 925% miles ;)

Nowt for me. Not sure if this has affected matters but all recent earnings have been on non-BD metal and recently made the over 55k membership mark. No BD revenue flights are booked for rest of 2009.

Has anyone noticed anything in the T&C about flights having to be booked directly with BMI?
I can’t see anything, so I assume booking through third party (ebookers, expedia etc...) should be ok?

In the past this has been ok and I haven't seen anything in the limited T&Cs that suggest it should be a problem.

About to leave the UK permanently for sunnier climes, so it's my last chance to take advantage of these offers. I've got the triple for two returns offer, and have to book a day and night trip to DUB anyway. I need one other trip I can include in the same day to get me the miles. Last year I did a BRU-LHR-BRU in C, but the prices seem to have gone up a fair bit. Are there any C fares from LHR that are worth it? I could just do two LHR-DUB Y returns in a row, but that'll net me a total of just 4800 status/dest miles. Adding one business leg would take me to 8400, but I don't think the extra £170 is worth it?

When I originally signed up to DC, I opted out of promotional e-mails and the like. But now if I go to the "Update your communications preferences" section of the web site, and try to opt into "Diamond Club news and offers, such as flight promotions", the site always resets the value to "No". Has anyone else had this problem?

Sadly nothing for me yet either, oh well its a shame as the double miles would have been a nice little extra boost after the pretty poor 500miles promo last time (or whatever it was).

However, probably missing me was deliberate as being a BD*G over 55k miles with double destination miles I could have been on a discounted business class one-way C+M ticket in Europe for each bmi flight I take.

The UK APD is what is making everything so expensive. I would recommend a oneway in cheap Y to BRU and a oneway J return, which should lower the price somewhat.

Sorry to hear you're leaving us, btw!

Hey, I'll still fly *A, so I'll stick with DC for now. But yeah, I'll miss my once weekly LHR-DUBs and enjoying bugs on newly launched website features. Though I am looking forward to MRs in the far east, must be some good deals out there.

Might look into the BRU idea; If I can get it to fit with a flight to DUB later that morning, that might work.

Nothing for me which is a pity as I'm only a few weeks into my new requalification year.

After that shambles that was getting out of LGW today I'd be happy to drive the extra few miles from LHR. Not to LHR as there's not a flight late enough back to EDI at the moment.

Nada, nowt , not a sausage here too although domestic management got the triple offer.

Guess as I am almost up to 55k and still 5 months to go before renewal (almost none of which were on BD metal) I figure they must think I am all booked up elsewhere!

Ah ... in fact I am.... :p

Nice idea.

In addition, Kiev is dirt cheap at the moment AND has no Saturday night stay requirement, although I don't think you could do a sameday turnaround...perhaps someone with experience of KBP could advise?

I've just realised that my email address on my DC account has mysteriously changed to something totally incorrect. I thought it had been a while since I'd had anything from them.

Annoyingly the website won't let me change it myself.

More annoyingly, I've no idea whether or not they've tried to send me one of these offer emails. I don't suppose I'll get very far with the ICC will I?

So, have anyone got miles posted for this promo? I have just completed my first RT. Got 100% miles posted for both segments and 35% G destinations miles, but not promised status/destination miles. have anyone got promo miles on their account yet? Have those been posted at the same time with the actual flight miles or DC does it retrospectively?

From the T&Cs:

4. All miles earned from this promotion will be credited to your Diamond Club account by 16 December 2009 as one credit and are non transferable.

So it will be between the end of the month and 16 Dec. Haven't yet had the bonus miles for the Sep/Oct promotion, but I guess that's a good thing as my retrospective claim for flights (for which my DC number was on the bookings and on the boarding cards) still hasn't been processed. But that's a separate issue.

RAPC, thanks a lot. I assume that October promo when both flight and promo miles were posted to my account simultaneously was more of an exception. That's reassuring.

Don't worry - most bmi promos run like this. A vague target date of when the miles will be included in the T&Cs. Sometimes they post early and we are in shock. Typically they are a little late or posted in chunks, at which point we have collective panic attacks. We always get the miles in the end for the bmi operated promos.

Am I correct in thinking that for the purpose of this promotion, 2 singles will count as a return?
So if I book LHR-EDI and EDI-LHR rather than LHR-EDI-LHR, this will count as a return as far as the promotion?
