Finnair Plus - What has happened to AY one-way fares?

The title pretty much sums it up - on some routes (ARN and TLL, most noticeably, but also RIX and VNO) AY used to offer some decently priced one-way tickets, probably due to competition (SK has been using a completely one-way based pricing model for years now etc.) - and booking the flights on Expedia and thus avoiding the ridiculous 20 EUR service charge from Finnair's site made these some excellent value deals. Just a few weeks ago I booked such a fare for HEL-RIX one-way for around 70 EUR.

I needed some flights to ARN for next year and could't find any one-way fares whatsoever below the standard full fare Y, which is about six times as much as KF/SK want for a simple HEL-ARN flight with a very similar schedule. I tried looking for TLL as well, and same story here - only full fare Y.

Did the previous one-way fares expire around this time and nobody at the AY fare desk has yet loaded a new batch in or what is going on?

I know that AY is struggling with low yields, but IMHO it's still better to fly a seat with low yield than an empty seat. This is causing me to shift more and more of my business over to the competition (SK/KF and BT mainly), I'd be willing to pay a reasonable premium for flying AY (maybe around 20 EUR for these short flights) for the miles and lounge access, but AY is giving me no choice.

Yup, they seem to be gone. I've noticed lately that the one-way fares in W have been harder to get but now I understand - there are none published! Checking a few routes I can find W-class as the lowest return fare but only Y and J as one-way fares. Seems like AY has given up on those fares. ?

I got a VERY decent one-way fare to AMS for October, so when I bought it in Sep (?) there was at least some around.

Exactly - 20€ on top of a 40-50€ fare (80-100€ all-in) is just ridiculous.

Ever thought of asking AY? They might have some insight into this...at least much more than the wannabe AY management that is gathering here.. ;)

I sent a complaint about it to Finnair Silver and they answered, that they forwarded it to whom it may concern. But no answer yet.

The simplest solution is to book a return ticket and leave the other leg unused. Being trivial - please forgive me :o. The cheapest I can find between HEL and STO is € 165 including the ridiculous web booking fee.

Yeah right - with a little shopping around and some flexibility in schedules (i.e. long waits at Arlanda) I can fly the competition for around 50-60 EUR per leg.

You used to be able to get AY one-way for this route for around 50 EUR without the 20 EUR booking fee - I've still got such flights booked before the end of the year. Availability was mostly limited to off-peak departures, but that is usually fine with me.

I noticed the same on a ticket purchased one month in advance for CPH-HEL flying next week. SK was CAD$126. AY over CAD$800 crazy...
