last year i accrued 100.000 HON miles.
this year i am hitting 530.000 HON miles so at the end of this year i will become HON up to february 2012.
My question now is: next year to requalify up to February 2014 will i need only 70.000 miles?
am i right?
thx

I don't think so. During the 2 calendar years 2010 and 2011 you need 600k HON miles.
in current scenario you'll be hon by end 2009, valid up to february 2012! I suggest something different. Due to the fact that you flew 530k in one year only, why don't you just go very close but under 600k this year, and take your hon qualification flight early 2010? In that case your status would be valid until february 2013, so basically you gain 1 year and your requalification period would be 2011-2012.In the meantime put your "unnecessary" miles you clock in 2009 somewhere else.
Just a suggestion..

You forget that the HON circle miles collected by the OP in 2008 won't count anymore in that case.
Hence, it won't simply be a HON qualification flight, it will be a couple in order to earn the 600K minus whatever the OP did achieve in 2009...

Basically the OP should not accrue more than 499.999 this year and then do 70.001 next year. This will extend the validit to 2013.
However, do the 70k need to be accrued AFTER end of February or is is irrelevant ?

100.000 + 499.999 make it to 599.999 at 31-Dec-09 --> NO HON
On 01-Jan-10 the HON Circle miles go down to 499.999 (Current year and previous year). Why would OP need only 70.001 miles?
499.999 + 70.001 is 570.000 --> NO HON

maybe it wasn't clear.
100.000 accrued in 2008
530.000 accrued in 2009
end of 2009 this means 630.000 so i would become HON
if i accrue only 499.999 this year, next year i would need 100.001 (that is not just a couple of flights...)
but in this case would i be HON up to 2013?
but my question is:
if i become HON this year i will be HON up to february 2012.
if i accrue next year 70.001 will i be HON up to 2014?
or does the counter goes to 0 in 2010?
the rule says to accrue 600.000 in the last two years so they should start counting 530.000 from 2009.
right?

The counter goes to zero in 2010 !
If you qualify for HON until 2012 then you will need an additional 600.000 in 2010 and 2011 !
It is 600k every two years to re-qualify.

Not related to the OP but still HON qualify:
The e-Voucher for next qualify (Feb 2010) already added to my account.
Is it new policy (usually it was just on February) or it's a glitch on the IT (that maybe will bring some more e-Vouchers on Feb :D)?

Does your status validity period still show Feb 2010?
Mine already shows Feb 2012 for a while now and I got the +6 eVouchers as of today (Just checked). This is consistent, how it was in the past IMHO.

status validity period Feb 2012
Before it was updated just around End Jan (at least on 2008)
I still think that my first post was correct. Ok, the OP will lose his first 100k from 2008. But he doesn't need them since he'll be short of 70k only early 2010, the 530k will remain for his 2 years qualy period.therefore, if he doesn't qualify this year, which is what I suggest, then he becomes hon early 2010 with status up to feb 2013.

f4freeJunior: if the OP will have the 530K this year he can't choose and will become HON till 2012 the only way is to have up to 499,999 this year and than next year 2010 to collect the remaining to 600K (30K can be the flights you delay and 70K more) just by this way he will qualify till 2013. For the OP if you plan to have 100K next year you can go for it, otherwise you can loss all, just make the calculation.^

totally correct.
Additionaly, he might have to credit a few miles to another FFP in order not to qualify too early by the end of this year.

i talked to the senator line today and they told me that if i qualify for HON this year, next year i will be able to re-qualify with only 70.000 HON miles.
As i thought the counter doesn't go to zero.it takes in consideration the previous year and the actual.
so i might be HON until for 4 years until 2014 with only 100000(2008)+530000(2009)+70000(2010)=700000 HON miles accrued in two years and few months!!!

May be there is one thing you have to be sure with: the validity date on the HON Card says 02/XX, so the status expires end of february.
If you decide to qualify for HON in 2010 make sure that you get a written confirmation from LH that you are allowed to achieve the missing 100.001 miles for qualification in the first two month of 2010 and will be HON up to
02/13 instead of 02/12. I qualified in april 09 and got the expiring date 02/12.

2006: 700 k

2008: 300 k
2009: 290 k (got yesterday the friendly letter from T. Antinori that I will be SEN if I don't make the missing 10 k - which will be done next week anyhow :D

Maybe a non-HON like my humble self should try to answer the question again   I don't know why you asked such a question from the very beginning as the M&M website is pretty clear on this issue:
How long are my HON Circle miles valid for?
HON Circle miles are calculated for two calender years dated 1st January up until 31st December. In case you are HON Circle member, the sum you attain in the last two calender years in which your status is active will be decisive for a further extension.
The wording in pretty clear and straight forward and if M&M send you something in written than it'll be a similar statement to the one above.
