nope, not that I can tell, being plat has never been mentioned when I check in. I do usually get my high floor request but might get that without status also, just by asking. The only advantage is the 15% bonus points and plat bonus cert after every third stay.

My co-worker just stayed at the ATL-South twice last week and they told him that he could get anything off of the menu comp for being diamond. He got the hamburger and fries, so the second time they just asked if he wanted that again. When he stayed at ATL-North they didn't offer him anything. When I stayed at South, I used the CI kiosk, so I didn't get anything.

I'm hoping diamonds get better treatment than lowly plats, since they have had to stay more, but when I become diamond (Dec) I will take the bonus points over the food and beverage amenity, because the HP food, that I have had is just ok :D

That's for diamond - sometimes the desk agents don't know to prompt the customer between points and food/beverage amenity. There are no real benefits at a HP for a plat.

Not sure if they were supposed to or not, but at one of the HPs that I've frequented on my quest for Diamond, the check-in lady has offered me a "snack" - two bottles of water and a bag of chips in lieu of the points. I took it since it was like 53 points I would "lose" and I wanted some water. As it turns out, the stay didn't post so they gave me the snack plus the 15% platinum amenity. :)

On my next stay there, I mentioned it was my diamond qualifying stay and the lady offered me anything from their grab-and-go area (sandwich, salad, sweets, etc.). I tried the oreo bar and took a bottle of water back to the room. The lady was even nice enough to plate the oreo bar for me. Having tried it, I wouldn't go out of my way to do so again... :p

Me bad. Sorry, I forgot this is Hyatt, not Marriott.

This is actually kinda of weird (backwards?) if you think about it, but technically Plats get better perks at HPs than Diamonds do. There are no room upgrades at HPs, so no advantage for Diamonds there. Diamonds get a 500 pt Diamond amenity every stay.

On the other hand, if a Plat made all their stays at HPs, they would average out to a 583 pt Plat amenity per stay based on the Plat Extras certs they would earn:

Stays #1-6 = 1000 pts per 3 stays = 333 pts per stay
Stays 7-12 = 1500 pts per 3 stays = 500 pts per stay
Stays 13-18 = 2000 pts per 3 stays = 667 pts per stay
Stays 18-24 = 2500 pts per 3 stays = 833 pts per stay

Average # of pts earned per stay = 583 GP pts.

Wow, that is interesting and I never woud have done the math, but you are right. If the person only stays at HP then Plat is better bonus points wise than diamond because of the 500 cap.

Due to the stays count double, I won't see the higher bonus points because after stay 12, diamond kicks in, so my average per stay would be lower

Recent stay @ Independence, OH HP - chips/banana/granola bar and water plated in the room. Also got WSJ instead of USA Today - stayed there many times as Diamond - first this has happened

Have stayed in ATL North and ATL South the last two weeks (alternating for the gift cards) and North has had both, South only had the WSJ.

Recent stay at the HP Tempe/PHX airport, as a Plat (one stay before my Diamond-qualifier), received a cookie, bag of chips, and bottle of water at check-in as a Plat amenity.

My last HP stay they were providing WSJ instead of USA Today. I was told they were switching over to WSJ, so maybe this is a system-wide change. They also credited me $1 when I told them I didn't want it. Keep that in mind on those MRs!;)

Well don't take the cookies and water at this hotel after you make Diamond. I did and they did not give me my 500 Diamond amenity points. I found out on my next stay when at check-in I was offered a choice of snacks or points.
