Hilton HHonors - Can you have several bookings at for the same nights?

Hi,

A quick question relating to two trips I have planned for next year.

In January, I'll be making a stop-over in London on my way to the USA, and is currently booked at Hilton London Metropole. I have to admit, that since flights were booked, I have re-booked 5 times, at 4 different Hiltons in London (First I wanted to stay at the airport, then Paddington was more convenient, then I wanted something near Hard Rock Cafe, then changed my mind and wanted the convenience at Paddington, then Metropole was much cheaper, and just down the street.. anyway..).

So, I can obviously not make up my own mind, and it made me wonder: What if I make several bookings at different hotels, and just cansel the ones I wont stay at? Will Hilton "find out" that I have several bookings, and decide that it "is wrong", or is this possible? i have however decided to stay at the Metropole, but was curious anyway

In May, I will be travelling to USA with some family members, and we will require two rooms at any hotel we will be staying at. So far, I have made one booking at a HGI in NYC, and learned that having several rooms in one booking, will make it impossible to view/edit/cancel it online (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hilton-hhonors/987870-i-did-get-two-rooms-right.html).

Most probably, this reservation will be canceled, as rates might get cheaper closer to our date of arrival. Now, to not make this "mistake" again; Is it possible to make two different reservations at the same hotel for the same night(s) under the same name/HHonors account?

Thanks for any advice :)

Yes you can book several hotels for the same nights. I do it all the time and then cancel the ones I don't want. Just have to make sure you cancel them in line with the cancellation policy.

Not sure about booking the same hotel for two different rooms on different reservations. I have not tried that.

I did this about 6 weeks ago. I couldn't decide which hotel I wanted to stay at so booked two and cancelled the one I didn't use.

Hi,

Yes I have done this dozens of times and really is the way to go since just about every time both rooms have been ungraded to executive floor and I end up getting two sets of local amenities such as bottles of wine or fruit baskets etc.
I am pretty convinced most hotels dont even check the lists to determine any duplication.

Like others who have responded, I do this frequently as I am developing my plans. Better to have a good rate locked in early. And you can recheck periodically to see if the rate has gone down and redo the reservation at the new rate. I do cancel rooms I know I won't need as soon as I figure that out.

I also do this frequently for family trips. I normally get Diamond benefits for both rooms and HH points for both rooms, if I remember to ask at the desk to have both rooms put on the same folio.

The problem you experienced with your HGI reservation is a problem with the Hilton reservation system, and not the result of a restriction they have on the number of rooms booked with your HH number. It affects Hilton and HGI reservations. Booking more than one room on a single reservation at a Hampton or other HH brand doesn't seem to prevent you from viewing it online.

Thanks. I've obviously got this confirmed now. It isn't a big deal for me anymore regarding this particular stay, but was just curious about it. Thanks all, anyway

Yes, that's what I found out in my previous thread about the subject (by following the link). I didn't suspect it to be a problem having my name/HH-number on two rooms in the same reservation.

I do like having the ability to view/edit/cancel reservations online, which obviously can't be done when booking multiple rooms on one reservation at Hilton or HGI. As it's obviously no problem having two reservations under the same name, I'll try that for DC. Thanks for all replies :)
