Hyatt Gold Passport - Question to Hyatt GP Members who are United 1K

Now that the 5000 bonus mile promotion is over, do you go for point or mile for your stay? Why?

I've been thinking bout this question. I think I'll go for the points as long as FFN is of value to me. 500 miles per stay is what I can get from a Hilton stay and is not enough of an incentive to stay at Hyatt.

The 5000 mile bonus for 1K was the promotion that persuaded me to stay at Hyatts this fall.

Points. With the various bonuses out there on GP points, it's worth it. The 500 miles + 2500 bonus for 2 nights just doesn't compare to GP points, especially with my boatload of miles. I did claim around 45k miles from some recent stays though.

I'm not sure. In most one night cases, I think the 1,250 miles + 500 miles would be better than the 6.5 points per dollar spent. Most 1k's have lots of miles already though.

I value UA miles at 1.5 cents each and Hyatt points at 2.0 cents each, so if your room rate is $200 and you're a Diamond, the points you earn will about equal the value of the miles you earn if you pick miles. If your room rate is less than $200, then miles are a better value unless there is a G bonus available.

Either way you get the Diamond welcome points and FFN credit. :)

+1. Hyatt was simply incredible this fall with the UA promo, the FFNs, and the double stay credit. Too bad they don't have more properties... :(

+1. I need Hyatt points more than I need UA miles, especially with UA miles being harder to redeem thanks to UA's blocking of available award seats.
