Hi,
I have read various threads the search let me find, and I am still undecided as to where to stay for New Year's Eve stay in Las Vegas.
I'll be using points as the going rate are much higher than the usual discounted price : I guess I am not the only one thinking of getting to Las Vegas for New Year.
Which one would you choose for what is obviously a leisure trip. I've never been to Las Vegas, I am hostile to renting a car if it can be avoided.

Personally if this your first trip to Vegas I would not go on New Years Eve
its not what it appears on TV... but if you insist.. anywhere OFF the Strip is much better . The Las Vegas Hilton has the best view of your choices for the fireworks.

Las Vegas Hilton is off the strip but have a monorail service connecting the property to properties on the strip... You have to walk from Embassy Suites to the nearest monorail station which could be a pretty good walk... it may look close on the map but everything is really spread out. You don't want to rely on ground transportation because traffic can be a nightmare especially on NYE which make the monorail really ideal. Also the breakfast is better at the Hilton in Vegas and free if your Gold or Diamond. The only advantage of ES is larger room and if you get the larger suite with the balcony facing the strip which is very very very few and might already be reserved for that night. If you end up staying at the Hilton, bring your HHonors card if your silver or higher... it comes in really handy at this property.
If your not renting a car, the Las Vegas Hilton is also a great option since Las Vegas RTC (local bus) Bus number 108 runs every 20 to 30 minutes from LAS (pick up at "0" level by the limos and hotel shuttle... make a right when exit the airport and walk toward the bus stop). The bus drops off in front of the Las Vegas Hilton and picks up for the return trip back to the airport across the street in front of the new hotel next to the AMPM. The bus is $1.75 and the ride is 25 minutes (in normal traffic) vs the airport shuttles which cost $6 each way and takes anywhere from 40minutes to an hour since the Hilton is always the last stop.
