InterContinental Hotels: Priority Club & Inter-Continental Ambassador - Wrong status on booking

First post..be gentle!
I recently made Platinum for the first time following all the good stuff on here.
I have just had two stays . one CP and one HI, and anticpated a fanfare welcome and an upgrade (if available!) However on checking in it was apparent this was not happening. This irked me so I checked with reception who queried my status. It seems they had me down as Gold and little interest in my claim to be Platinum. I am wondering if bookings only show your status when it is booked and are not updated? I have four more bookings made prior to Plat and wish to gain any advantages this offers.
Also if rooms are 'available' is the upgrade a must? Many thanks

Print the temporary card off the PC website. IIRC, at the time when I became Plat, the bookings made prior to reaching the Plat level were still showing Gold.

The status at checkin should be used, make sure you take your plat card with you or if you haven't recieved it print a temp one from the pc website.

Never thought of printing one off, and the new card arrived whilst on my travels. At least I have it for my next trip, and it will be out of my wallet before the credit card is!
I guess this happens a lot then.
