Hi all,

Looking at trying to get on QF6 (or BA15) from SIN to SYD for a Thursday evening in Nov/Dec, and notice that QF6 is always really full. Anyone who knows this route know what's so special about this Thu night flight?

Also, when looking at the QF booking engine (ex-SIN) there's a Nestle logo down the bottom right of the pricing page (near where it displays the total price for the selected flights) which links to http://test/ I wonder how that managed to sneak in there? :)

No idea why the flight is zeroed out:

[KVS Availability Tool 5.1.2/Platinum - Sabre: Availability/GTC/US-CRPD1] (http://www.KVSTool.com/?R)
SIN Singapore Changi SG [WSSS]
SYD Sydney Kingsford Smith NS AU [YSSY]

And the Nestle logo looks as if some programmer is testing something.

The QF web site is very willing to sell tickets in most / all WHY classes.

For which dates?

I looked at 12th Nov, 19th Nov, 26th Nov, 3rd Dec, 10th Dec and 17th Dec.

There is availability on BA15 on 3rd/10th, but the first availability for QF6 is 17th Dec (and Flexi only)

Didn't believe that until I saw it! Maybe it's QF's way of increasing revenue by sponsorship .

Talking about website oddities:

Interesting how QF currently advertises $798 specials to SYD/MEL/BNE ex LAX on the US site with a picture of Milford Sound in the background.

Sorry, I should have said it was for 12 November - the same day that DUF quoted the availability extract from the KVS Tool. It was to show that KVS showed zeroed out but QF web was still selling a broad range of seats.

On QF6? It doesn't show up as an option at all for Nov 12th...

It still shows at the moment. But maybe they are going to 6 services a week?

Shows up where? Post I replied to was talking about the QANTAS website.

If you go to www.qantas.com.au and change your location to Singapore, and then try to book a flight SIN-SYD on 12th Nov, QF6 doesn't show up as an option *at all* (only options are via MEL or PER). That would correspond with the all-zeros in Expertflyer/KVS IMHO. Similarly with the next 5 Thursdays. FRA-SIN is still showing plenty of availability.

That makes me think that the flight is still going to be flown, but for some reason lots of people get on at SIN. Which is odd, since it's a pretty awful overnight experience (even in J), and QF6 is also (IMHO) once of the worst with service (J and Y)

Is it this due to the fact that QF5/6 often have the connecting codeshares to India on Jet and Paris on Air France, possibly other airlines as well connecting at SIN?
I took QF 5 years ago and it was packed, in WHY, all the way to FRA.

QF5/6 were often used by folks from the UK to avoid Heathrow. It was quite common to see few checking in at Frankfurt, yet full flights to Singapore.

I'm on QF5 on 24NOV09 (SYD-SIN) and again on 25NOV09 (SIN-FRA) and it seems QF have been playing funny buggers on the SYD-SIN leg, with at least 3 or 4 aircraft config changes since I first made my booking. About a month ago it went from 9's in most buckets to also being zeroed out in the space of a few hours. Not sure what is going on there. It is always operated as an AF/AI/BA codeshare, so maybe QF have already sold their allocation - seat map suggests a few spots still available (I understand that this is a poor indicator).

Return from FRA on QF6 on 25FEB10, a Thursday, and there doesn't seem to be any movement there yet.

It would surprise me if they are moving to a 6 day schedule, as every time I fly QF5/6 they are usually packed, including J. I think FRA provides a comfortable alternative to LHR, is also an extremely well connected European hub, and generates a lot of J custom for QF.
