I think my question was answered elsewhere but I'm having difficulty finding it so excuse me for raising the issue again. I made an award reservation for a friend from HKG-BKK(SO)-LHR. During the SO in BKK my friend will need to apply for UK visa. If this isn't successful and I subsequently need to cancel the BKK-LHR sector having already flown HKG-BKK sector will I receive a partial refund of C&M for the unused flight? Unfortunately because of visa procedures and duration of BKK SO my friend will be unable to aplly for the visa before departing the HKG leg. Thanks again.
No. There are no changes permitted once the first flight has been taken.
If you think there's a real risk of missing the second flight, have sufficient miles and there's still availability, you'd be better playing safe and booking the journey as two single leg bookings, even though it would be more miles. That way, at least you'd have flexibility over the second leg.

Corpt is quite correct; the Diamond Club T&C on flybmi.com are very clear...
Changes are not permitted after travel has commenced.

Thanks folks. I was aware changes couldn't be made after travel begins but I thought that I recalled something about credit for unused parts of tickets, perhaps just wishful thinking on my part :D I'll solve the problem by changing to revenue out and award return, just the opposite of my original plan.
