This is hardly a complaint, but as someone fairly new to the brand I found it amusing. One notes in the Gallery a sign behind the bar proclaiming "We Proudly Serve Starbucks Coffee." And indeed, if you order an espresso drink from the bar, they do...

...but the free coffee served at breakfast is Seattle's Best...

...and the in room coffee is generic (with powdered creamer, seriously?).

Am I the only one to look at this and wonder what on earth is going on? :)

(At the Hyatt Place in Dublin/Pleasanton, CA last week, all but the Starbucks coffee was undrinkable, but that seems to be peculiar to the particular location.)

Yes, I think so. The rest of us just figured it out. (The coffee bar proudly serves Starbuck's coffee.)

Now we can turn our attention to those things they call bagels. :)

SBC is owned by Starbuck's , so technically it should be okay.

I figured this out a few months ago but there was someone incredulous at the discrepancy at HP BNA just about 20 minutes ago.

Until recently, HP would serve Starbucks at breakfast, instead of SBC. But, I think they may have switched thinking they could sell more of their 'pay' Starbucks drinks if it wasn't free at breakfast, But, above poster is correct - SBC is also owned by Starbucks

I was at HP Dublin yesterday morning and didn't notice that the coffee was so awful. But they kindly came to tell me that they'd be clearing away breakfast in 10 minutes. So I thanked them for the heads-up and said I'll refill my coffee. Oops, coffee all gone. When I let them know, they said "sorry". I asked if they were going to put out another pot. No, we're closing in 10 minutes. I let it go, didn't feel like starting the day annoyed. Agree the food at HP for breakfast is very disappointing and it's always the same at all of them.

This morning I'm at HR Embarcadero (found a super rate that was only slightly more than my local HP & SS's) and was happy to see a coffee maker in the room. Went to make myself a cup before RC opens and found a coffee condiment pack with powdered creamer. Now powdered creamer, for me, is awful.

I think there was a coffee set in the room in the HP Dulles East and I like SBC -- I have had it at some 4 Points and Sheratons as well.

I agree that the free breakfast is dismal, but then again, I don't stay in the room so it is not a major issue. ;)

Other than for the points and stay credits it's hard for me justify staying at a HP. The rooms are not very nice (always seem to have a musty smell), awful bathrooms, and loud HVAC systems. Now that I have requalified as Diamond...I will skip HP's until next year.

Fortunately, I can justify not doing some overnight stays at properties as there is still value in checking in and out because of FFNs.

This would be a very different matter if this was just a straight matress run for status requalification (at least for me).

What a strange alternate universe we live in :D
