Budget Travel - why so expensive bkk to vte

Why is it $250.00 plus to fly from bkk to vte. I can fly to Udon, a few miles from Vte for $69.00. Checked AirAsia does not fly there, Thai, Bangkok Airlines and Laos all high priced. This will be for Feb, any sugestions?

AirAsia flys to VTE from KUL. It's high priced because they can charge that much.

Other suggestions? Take the night train.

It's high priced because of a lack of competition.

Either fly to Udon, then cross the boarder, or take the train and do the same thing.
