I see Z excursion fares from Europe by United, valid for travel on either United and Swiss codeshare, in business class.
If I look at the earning table, I see that Z is x2 miles on Swiss metal and x1 miles on United metal. Should I book the Swiss codeshare or is this just an oversight of the earning table?

If it's Swiss metal then you'll get 200% miles.
Note that Z class on UA doesn't necessarily translate to Z class on LX, but all fares that book into business earn 200% miles on BD so you're safe.

OK thanks. My fear was it would be mapped to a x1 booking code on Swiss. I'll book on Swiss metal then (my slight travel preference being outweighed by the lure of miles :D)

Just to check, are these Z fares actually available on Swiss metal? The ones I have seen are codeshare only for Swiss and all on UA metal, in which case it will definitely be 1x miles.

I was originally going for a ZRH-IAD-LAS with ZRH-IAD on UA metal, but united website proposed a list of options (which expedia didn't), including ZRH-ORD-LAS, with ZRH-ORD on the swiss-operated UA 8598/8599.

Ahhh, thanks for that one. A very good option in that case.
