Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - 5/9 F pax DMs, for those interested

Observation from recent flight HKG-AMS in F (full 9/9).

Going through the galley noticed status of each pax on the posted seating/meal chart. 9 pax: 5 of us were DM, 4 were SL. Of the 9, I think two of the DMs were op-ups because of up-arrows next to their name, and I remember asking at check-in how full F was (hoping it wouldn't be totally full)...they told me 7/9, but that since J was oversold op-ups were likely. Also, one of the up-arrowed DM guys was in the middle seat 4th row, which seems to be prime op-up territory for F.

Seven paid (cash/mileage) F passengers - not bad for CX.

It is really interesting to see that there were more DMs than non-DMs in a cabin.

Back in 2007, when I was still a GO, I was on a LHR-HKG flight where the 8 other pax in the F cabin were DMs. And no, there were no op-ups...

Well, not necessarily. How much cash do you figure that CX gets on this one flight from a pax on an AONE4 ex-CPT (roughly USD$9,500) which has, say, 50K BIS miles in the itinerary?

Hard to believe that on the AMS route all pax would be MPC. Most European-based pax would use BA as their OW FFP (some possibly AA).

Well, on my recent flights to AMS I saw many MPC lugguage tags on Dutch/Western pax. When I flew F in Aug I was lucky that there were only 3 pax and on the return 4. Acc to the FA this was an exception!!

I rarely fly AMS, but I was surprised too. And mind you, one of the SLs was a colleague of mine who really should be DM, but he just never bothered getting CX MPC during his first 200k miles or so last year.

I might be wrong but I think there's quite a lot of trade between Netherlands and HK/China and a large-ish Dutch community in HK. So maybe a lot of Asia based Dutch travelling this route?

Dutch companies tend to be among the leading traders in Europe and are major players regarding the whole continent in some materials. So a lot of travel required to keep their relationships with Asian suppliers and clients in a good state, I guess.
