Swiss International Airlines - New Swiss First on Europe to JFK in comparison

After numerous F flights with LH and a really good experience with SQ F (not counting the less than exhilarating experience with Austrian, who managed to get my luggage lost in spite of pre-evening checkin in FRA) I have found to be Swissī new F class the very best experience by far, when it comes to cabin quality and food quality.

Iīve never seen such a huge table, itīs massive and offers vast space for work and food for two persons, of which one could sit on the "Ottoman".

Another really good design is the armrests that can be lowered for a sleeping realm that is impressive. Best cover and blanket add up.

I was flabbergasted, as such quality is normally only available outside Europe (I assume USA to SIN flights or UAE to Asia have comparable quality in some arilines but I havenīt yet been able to sample them).

Have a look here (and donīt forget to switch on visiblity of images in your preferences):

On the flight from ZH to JFK I got this amenity kit, with products from the la prairie brand in a Bally provided kit (pretty nice), on the flight back it had a different form factor but similar. Better by far than what LH offers, also better than what I got on SQ F from FRA to JFK (altough the bottle of Ferragamo scent is a nice touch).

So, frankly speaking, in spite of ZH being the stopover from FRA, I get the impression that LX is the new SQ (concerning F-class). What do you think?

The old LX F class has always been the best in Europe, and the new one goes a mile further, despite 3 very minor drawbacks:

1) cabin is not entirely dark at night, due to the backlit labelling of suites
2) no water bottle holder
3) objects holder (like glasses) close to foot area.

Unsurpassed is in my view the quality of bed - sheets - pijama combination and that of food (OK OK LH fans, you do not get caviar, but the rest of the meal is much better, and served with style)

I don't need always caviar. The salmon is very delicious.^ ^

I've not been with new LX F, but probably my assumption is true: Still only one lavatory. If so, this is a real drawback IMHO. I don't want to fly F and then wait in a line for a free toilett. Since that only one was popular by 8 pax, 3 pilots and many FAs on my recent LX F flight.:(

Having only one toilet in the F cabin is a real drawback.

What also bugs me with the "old" F seat is that there is nowhere to store your glasses during the flight ?

I'm probably a minority here, but I have so gotten used to the LH F seat that I actually sleep better in this seat compared to the LX F seat !:o

Well, at least you are not alone.

I found the LX "old" F seat as good as the current LH F seat. Comfortable enough to get a good sleep. But overall the LX set (pyjama, bed sheet blanket) was too warm compared to the LH set. I really like that LH pyjama and will have it with me on my next LX flight.

I would like to add:

4) You can't easily leave the seat anymore when the table is folded out (was different in old LX F)
5) If in bed mode, the ottoman is lower than the rest of the seat, so your feet are resting lower
6) The plastic protection of the 21" inch screen is not reflection free and full of swiping scratches, I guess caused by improper handling by the cleaning staff.
7) The air cussion functionality is borderline esotherical

agree on all above points, including toilet which is used by crew as well

I find the LH seat to be much narrower than the LX one: when I sleep on the side, I cannot flex my knees too much. the uselessly wide armrests are at the expense of the mattresses width.

As the OP is reporting about the LX seat I'll move this thread to the LX subforum.

Have a nice day

They could solve this problem by adding an additional toilet on the right side like LH A 333 fleet. I think LX product managers lack all imagination and future thinking :td:

I was invidted for a workshop with LH years ago (around 2004, IIRC) about the new F design. LH product managers had the very same idea, one toilett only for the F cabin. The group (about 30 people at that workshop) heavily argued for a second toilet and put it on a priority list on top over fancy things like bar, shower room, workout machine, ...

LX F - old , and certainly new version - is IMHO superior to LH F in all aspects.

One substantial advantage for LH is however the 747 with F on UD , it seems to me like every FA working on 330/340 ( both LH and LX ) has to visit the front of the plane several times during the flight , very disturbing:td:
