First post - be gentle
Recently stayed at Renaissance Amsterdam for 5 nights on points. Nice to take advantage of Plat status, free night and 15% points discount. This has however not been credited to my total nights stayed and 50k megabonus till 15 Jan. Is this correct?

Cheers

Welcome. You do not get stay nights on points. Sorry

I do believe that only Hilton counts award stays. All the other hotel programs including Marriott do not.

But your 15% points discount, if it was a stay using pointsavers (due to the special promotion), will post in January. To confirm the others - no nights credit for redemption nights, though you will get points credit for any incidental spend.

As such, you'll need another 5 nights for your megabonus.

Once in a great while you may get night credit, but the rules say no. Someone has to make a mistake (I've seen it happen enough).

Extra spend at FS Marriott's do generate points, but not nights.

However, if you own a Marriott Vacation Club, you do get credit for nights stayed every year at your home resort if you stay there. This was changed in the last year or two, prior to that you got no night credit.

I too thought you did not get nights for free stays, but my account currently says something like:

Nights Stayed 10
Bonus Nights 18

Now, 10 of the Bonus nights are from my Chase Visa card, but I can't figure out what the other 8 Bonus nights are. And they are strangely equal to the 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 3 nights I stayed on free stays this year.

Those are probably from the double nights promotion. Did you stay 8 nights during that promotion period?

I would guess that if an error had been made and you were given credit for the nights of an award stay, that they would show up as regular nights, not bonus nights (though it's never happened to me, so it's just a guess).

Perhaps but my two paid stays this year were for 3 + 7 nights. So, it doesn't quite add up ...

Did a portion of one of the stays fall within the double nights period? If so, you would have received bonus nights for the portion that did. It doesn't have to be all-or-nothing for the double nights.

AFAICT, No.

No big deal. It's just weird.

Are you sure your card doesn't give you 15 nights and then the 3 night stay was in the double points period?

Right. It looks like that is what it was. Sorry.
