Looks like part of an unadvertised "Asia sale." I just booked IAD-NRT-BKK in March for $1070 all-in in upgradeable W. That's about $300 off what I usually pay for this route.

Thanks Raffles!

Thanks for posting. I love this deal especially that I am planning to go to Asia early next year. I can see it's available until May 17th. Good stuff!

My January searches have all had a 777 or two in the mix. Can't seem to get a straight SFO return and haven't been able to negotiate.

Also, small city UX departures = same fare.

Newbie here, so I am not familiar with the upgrading process - so how can you upgrade this fare? Do you need a systemwide upgrade?

If flying before January 1 you'll need a systemwide upgrade, after Jan 1 UA's new program should also allow some combination of miles and cash.

what in the world are you talking about?

The transition date is actually Jan 12, not Jan 1, but after that United will offer copay+miles, so all fares will be able to be upgraded. The copay for W is only $50 cheaper than for S/T/L/K though, so if you were going that route, it isn't all that great of a deal. The point is that it is possible to upgrade w/o a SWU; however, what makes it a good fare is that it is cheap for a SWU-upgradeable fare.

ok.. i thought hbyerly was implying that the SWU will be no more in the new year.

Nope, just saying that there will be an additional option for upgrading.

Haven't booked it yet, but I'm pricing NYC-SFO-SAN-LAX-NRT-BKK-NRT-LAX-SAN-SFO-NYC for $1019 on ITA in March. 11457 EQM each way.

Nearly 46,000 EQM with DBEQM if it can be found now! Almost *Gld for ~$1000. Not bad!

LAX-SIN rt From $1034 a.i. Upgradeable W fare plus this fare is strikeable.

I see one date in December for ~$1120 for this routing on ITA.

EDIT: $993 with a looong curveball for a different routing through the O. Can probably get a better routing with .bomb

FS dump, I guess? Though FS is only $150, it wouldn't go that far..

BTW, this W class fare allows two free stopovers at HNL. More miles :D

wow. thanks for the tip!

EDIT: It looks like the stop over in HNL will cost a couple $$ more, but adds about 6000 miles r/t.

I've gotten one itinerary to price out for ~$1025 for ~54,000 EQM with DBEQM. HNL and BKK vacation in J and a load of miles.

Incredible fare - hopefully someone can take full advantage of it!

How do you book stopovers - just use multicity on eligible fares?

Also, I assume thats for sometime next year--who knows if there will be DBEQM! One can only hope!

I tried duplicating this route:
May 6-18 LAX-NRT-BKK-LAX-NRT, $847.60 all-in W fare, all on 744s, so the new C seats.

on UA's site under multifare, and I can't even come close ($5500 was the closest I got). What could I be doing wrong? Thanks!!!

Is BKK-LAX-NRT a typo? It should be BKK-NRT-LAX on the return.

Boy, that would be a sweet connection. :D

Can you upgrade with one e-500? ;)
