How is the lounge in Istanbul Thanks Mr. Bean Oct 31, 09, 1:17 am there is a TK forum here on FT. try searching there for your answer. multivisaman Oct 31, 09, 1:24 am Have taken the ORD/IST none stop twice and my son just returned from Turkey, taking the same. No problems, and find THY quite decent. Lounge is pretty average in Istanbul. IAN-UK Nov 3, 09, 10:03 am I've been blessed with B777 long-haul flights in C. All two of them! So my comments on cabin layout only apply to those aircraft. The seats are the best i know for sleeping, 180 degrees flat, each one with direct aisle access. But they are not in pairs, so no use if you like to chat to a travelling companion. I really can't be bothered with films, but the screen is large and interactive. The food was great: canapes with drinks, then meze followed by a choice of mains. Nothing delivered via trolleys. Breakfast is pre-ordered, but failed once - giving me the chance to try an onboard omlette (I hope he enjoyed my muesli and yoghurt:)). Cabin crew are helpful, and work teir socks off with all to-ing and fro-ing on individual service to seats of everything from drinks to meals. Not all of them are confident outside Turkish, and this can manifest itself as shyness, brusqueness or a (seeming) lack of interest. IST lounge is adequate, but nothing to write home about. |
