Mileage Run Discussion - Need some last-minute advice for UA mileage run tomorrow

Trying to book a mileage run tomorrow on UA on a same-day return. United's website isn't giving me the options that I want when I try to book the flights as a round-trip. However, I get the segments I want when using their one-way search tool. I'd have about a five to seven hour turn-around time at SEA on this run.

My question is this... Am I at any disadvantage by booking the trip as two separate one-way itineraries?

I'd prefer, if at all possible, not to get stuck on the left coast with no way home.

Thanks,
bcoz

If you happen to have some United vouchers, booking 2 one way trips can be advantageous. You do not have to worry about not being able to combine the different instruments.

I do not have an opinion on the 2 one-way tickets versus a roundtrip. You do have a significant layover in Seattle, so should be okay. If you are concerned, have you considered booking the flight on Orbitz, Travelocity or PL? Sometimes it easier to make the third party booking engines pick the appropriate flights.

PS If you are doing a straight forward mileage run, you could call United. $15 or $20?? if you are not a 1K. If you are getting error messages, there is no fee if you call web support.

PPS I am assuming you are using multicity option to force United to show the appropriate flights. United.com can not handle a large number of segments. Only define the segments that you have 2 in order to get your flights. MIA-ORD-LAX-XXX-YYY-SEA If you give the departure time and MIA-LAX, united will show the flights you want due to limited connecting cities and limited number of flights.
