Mileage Run Discussion - Help, I need 17, on AA mr ideas anyone?

I'm 17k short of platinum for the year. I'm signed up for the NYDBL and DBLEQM and I'm only gold now.
I may be able to get on my MIA-LAX-MEL before the end of the year but that's not a sure thing and I know the double stuff is only for AA metal.
Does anyone have any wonderful MR ideas for me? I would prefer to leave from either FLL or PBI.

when can you go?....whats the most you would spend?.....what have you looked at and rejected? date, route & price....

There's plenty of availability to SEA via DFW/ORD for sameday turns via the 11:40pm redeye SEA-DFW. Easy weekend MR. Under $250 ai, 5.5K x 2 = 11K+ EQM per trip, so two of these should more than do it for you. Use ITA's month-long search. Weekend of 12/5 and 12/12 work well.

Great, thanks for more ideas. I will need to do this in one MR. I will check those dates. I did find some really reasonable flights to LHR. I will sift through again. Your $250 ai sounds great price wise but I need just one flight so if a transcon does it for $500 or a bit more that will be the same.
I have checked barcelona, lhr, bru, cph and can't remember where else.

Consider two transcons back-to-back, maybe Fri-Sun.

If you really need to do it in one trip, look at Milan, >10K BIS, >20K with DEQM.

Yea, that's what I was looking at. I thought there was an issue with BA and miles to the account? Also don't the DBEQM have to be on AA metal?
When on AA's site they have some booked as AA metal from JFK-LHR. Is that wrong?

You can't currently earn AA miles (EQM or RDM) for BA flights US-EUR or vv.

Correct, the BA segments are not eligible for DBLEQ. If you do the TATL on AA then you'd be fine anyway, since that's 8.8K BIS / 17.6K EQM on its own.

But stick to Milan if you want to keep it simple. It's the best fare, all AA metal, no overnight, and humane flight times.
