US Airways Dividend Miles - Star Gold Benefits on an Award Ticket from Another Airline

I booked a ticket with CO (with their miles) for travel on US. My CO number is not in the PNR (nothing is), as one cannot add a FT number to an award ticket on CO.

How do I get my Star benefits (boarding, bag fee, etc.) without my US Preferred number being in there?

Thanks

You have a status card from CO? I know it doesn't say Star Gold until you get a new one from CO but you could flash that if it's the appropriate CO level that nets you *G. If you get hassle (always possible depending on a bad apple agent) you could pay the fees and then request a refund after the fact.

That's not the best solution but US has been pretty good about customer service responses in such screw-ups. I've had refunds issued for fees incorrectly collected at the check-in desk. Was easier to pay and get a refund rather than argue with a ticket agent not likely to budge and/or possibly at the mercy of a computer that won't let them proceed without a fee.

Actually, I am non-elite on CO. I have a US Preferred Card - that is what I want to be my "pass" to the benefits, but US won't see it in the PNR, as I cannot add any number to the CO reservation. i.e., they will see me as a regular, non-FT passenger.

They will add your FF number upon check-in. Head to the F-class counter, flash your card and don't worry.

US uses another Res system (EDS Shares), so even if CO cannot add your FF number in its system (still SystemONE?????), US will be able to do this (you will not get the miles as awards are booked in non-accrual classes: O, I, X). I have always had my FF number inserted, while flying on award tickets.

Another way is to simply call your Preferred line and say you'd like to add your US DM # to an existing reservation, flight XX date XX ...and also ask the agent to provide your US PNR for future reference. Then go to US website, enter US PNR details in My Trip and double check that your DM# has been entered correctly.

kudzu's advice is ^^^

Additionally, if you are traveling internationally and want lounge access as a Star Gold, take your US Preferred card with you just to be certain.

CO uses a version of EDS SHARES as well.
