Miles & More (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, and other partners) - Lufthansa V Asiana in Business

View Full Version : Lufthansa V Asiana in Business

I've been flying a lot recently on Asiana in business, but notice that Lufthansa have a flight to Seoul from Munich with a very convenient (for me) timing and was thinking of switching over to this flight.

How does the business class on Lufthansa compare to Asiana ? Is it comparable or worse ? If worse, then how much worse ?

Thanks

Doug

The OZ seat is probably a little bit better IMHO, aswell as IFE and food and drink, not to forget charming FAs. To be honest, I wouldn't switch if you are happy with the product, price and schedule. If schedule is more important, then LH is of course not that bad either.

Same here, OZ is so much better!

+1 ^

LH's only strong point is guaranteed AVOD (poor selection IMO), with OZ we have this B777 AVOD roulette:D, otherwise OZ is so much better.

I haven't flown OZ for quite some time: They still haven't managed to upgrade all the 777s to AVOD ? I had this lottery quite some time ago but was under the impression that it was just a question of time ? Obviously not ...

I am flying mostly to SYD via SEL and it is more related to SEL-SYD-SEL route.

All OZ B777s are now equipped with AVOD, AFAIK.
This year I always had AVOD at least on FRA-ICN-FRA in C.
Well, it was only 4 return flights, though. So, I wouldn't know the rest.

OZ has upgraded all 777s to PTV but not to AVOD. And there are no plans currently do to so.

I find the movie selection on LH to be better than on OZ but it still annoys me that LH cuts the movies shown on AVOD.

Dissenter here , at least on the seat area. I find LH seat better than OZ, which is too slanted.

I don't think OZ 777's are all AVOD - but I'm not positive. I find OZ selection very limited, even with AVOD.

I agree on this one. My impression is the seat pitch (or maybe is it the shape of the seat in front of you? ) on OZ might be smaller than LH. Plus I'm not sure you can make the seat fully horizontal like the LH buklhead seats (didn't seem possible on the OZ 777 and 333).
I also (like most people here probably) find the food on OZ better than LH.

Last night, I talked to my neighbour who is with OZ and here is what he had to say.

5 B777s(HL7739,HL7742,HL7755,HL7756, and HL7775) are equipped with AVODs.
5 other B777s are NOT with AVODs, but with Broadcast System.
All B747s(save HL7417) are also equipped with AVODs.
All 7 A330s are with AVODs.

Are you sure???

Of course you can not make the seat fully horizontal on OZ.

Have the 747's been equipped with a new C seat too. Last time I flew the 747 it had 1980's style C & F seats. F was bearable but C was made me really angry !

AFIK, there is still one old 747 put there with the old, horrible C seats. It is used mostly on the intra-Asia routes, but occasionally gets subbed onto long haul routes.

Is this true? I've been in row 1 on LH 744 and my seat did not go fully horizontal.

It is true. It requires some manual skills though.

Search and you shall find. They go fully flat by you playing a bit with some hidden seat controls. Sometimes the FAs don't like it.
