Looking at the VS site, most weekends are available until May 2010, after which they are mostly unavailable.... this is LHR-SFO.

I wonder if this is due to the peak season for Summer 2010 or due to the lead time to release seats (ie will they remain blocked due to the peak season or might they open up say 3 to 6 months ahead?)

Anyone have any experience of this?

There are three things I can think of:

- yup, all UC G's (the fare code for miles seats) have gone for the Summer
- there's a fault in the booking engine behind the Web site (this has been reported recently on other routes)
- VS changed the aircraft type from a 747 to a 346 for the winter, perhaps they haven't decided whether to put it back to a 747 and consequently seat availability is not loaded.

My guess is the second one - I'd try calling the VS Premier Team to ask them to take a look at this, it sounds odd but not impossible that all seats at weekends have already been bagged.

Yes the online awards tool has been wrong recently... but usually it's been showing awards where there are none rather then vv.

Well, that obviously was badly received. Try calling them or checking closer to the date when the revenue team look at forward bookings and determine whether or not to release other G's.

Sorry I meant to say thanks for the ideas, and just that the booking engine has indeed been weird lately.....

I'll give them a call. Trouble is I won't have my 50K miles until end of month so I may book in PE for now just to guarantee the seat (if it's availalbe).

In any case, I think that for a daytime flight there's not so much diff from PE to UC (other than the CH).
