I am doing a MR this Halloween and I have a red-eye on UA180 from SFO to BOS. The schedule flight time is 4hr 35m. The departure time is 22:40 PDT and the arrival time is 6:15 AM EDT(? EST?). If these is no day light saving time changes, 22:40 PDT is 1:40 EDT and 1:40 + 4:35 is 6:15 EDT. However, the day light saving time is ended during the flight so 6:15 EDT will become 5:15 EST. Does this mean I will spend one extra hour waiting at BOS for connection flights?

It looks like the time change actually got incorporated into the flight time -- there's no way you can fly SFO-BOS in 4.5 hours. So you'll depart at 22:40 PDT (1:40 EDT) and arrive 5.5 hours later, at 6:15 EST (7:15 EDT).
Looking at .bomb, it appears that on non-time-change days the flight arrives in BOS at 7:15 am.

Just came back from that MR. The 4.5 hr is the flight time from take off to touch down. The one hour gained from time change was used on taxiing and waiting on the tarmac.
:)
