Hi all,

My wife and I have booked Y-Class tickets from SIN-HKG (SQ856 on the A380) on singaporeair.com for Nov 23, 2009 and would like to use miles from our other frequent flyer programs to upgrade.

We have Continental and ANA miles that could be used to upgrade, however, there is no availability at all. We even tried looking at SQ860 and SQ866 but there is no availability. Is this common on this route? We even tried checking on Nov 22, 2009 with no luck.

Does each airlines FFP get assigned a certain number of available business class upgrade seats and are they the same number as the business class reward seats?

Any advice with this is much appreciated.

p.s. we have Delta Skymiles as well but it appears that they are only valid for redeeming award seats on SQ and not for upgrades on SQ.

You cannot - to my knowledge - use other *A FFP miles to upgrade to SQs new Biz class on A380, 77W and A345. The only miles you can use is KrisFlyer miles and for that you pay double the normal amount of miles required then for Y to C on a 747 or 772 for example.

You can only use SQ miles to upgrade 77W and 380 flights.@:-)

Using NH miles, you can only upgrade 772 flights which are SQ866 and SQ870. You can use ANA tool to check on availability, but it is not good. SQ releases more seats for awards/upgrades within a few days of departure. You best chance is to check after Nov 15 up until the day before departure.

On SIN-LHR routes, it is being served by either A380 or B773ER, does that mean that I cannot use other Star Alliance miles to redeem a C class ticket on SIN-LHR, strange isnt it?
