We travel using all kinds of transport, initially by sailing boat and for the last -18- years as backpackers using public transport. We have sold our house in The Netherlands and now travel continuously.

Canada doesn't work for you? I would also think Mexico could be had for cheaper than $650--especially if you don't care what airline you fly.

Why don't you just drive across the Canadian border. No MR miles but cheap!

They don't stamp Canadians or Americans when crossing the border by land.

They don't routinely stamp when crossing the border by land, but they will upon request.
The US side has stamped my Canadian passport before when I've asked politely. I imagine the Canadians would do the same for a US passport.
