Southwest Rapid Rewards - Got Temp A List Membership..questions

I received my temporary Alist promotion card, good thru 11/30. I only have one scheduled WN flight in November...(I am chasing USAir Silver Pref for the near future, only 1019 miles away!)

I booked my flight for next week and added EBCI prior to getting the temp A list.

I would like to 1: Change my reservation to reflect A list for that flight

and 2: Hopefully get my EBCI refunded.

Anyone have guesses as to what WN will do for me? If they don't at least get me Alist on this reservation, the whole temp promotion is worthless to me.

I didn't realize WN offered a temporary A-List promotion card. Is this like a legacy status match or challenge? Was it a targeted promotion? Where did you sign up? Thanks.

I didn't sign up for anything, but I am 6 flights short of normal A list status and it's the start of the 4th quarter, which means less business travel so WN pushes some promos at this time of year. I think it was targetted marketing...people under 10 short of A list or something like that.

They may also have seen a pattern change on my RR number, from 8 flights a month down to none due to displeasure with EBCI, and going instead (US, Jet Blue, Virgin, and even some legacy carriers like CO and AA in the last 2 months) with competitors which is easier during this price war.

We will see if I get to use it though.

I am fairly certain that you will automatically be A-list for that flight and will not get your EBCI money back.

If you were flying 8 flights a month, you'd easily have A-List after 4 months. Once you are A-List, why would EBCI bother you? A-List is before EBCI.

Yeah, but hasn't been 4 months yet.

Anyone else get a similar offer?

I'm at 7 from A list with four more tomorrow (would have been at one tomorrow but yesterday's weather killed a roundtrip I had planned).

I will have the A list through flights mid-Nov, and a CP with flights in early Dec, but would love to have A list earlier rather than later... ;)

Follow up!

Called WN to confirm my ticket next week was modified to A list. It was not. As a matter of fact, the folks at CS and Reservations were completely unaware of this promotion and it did not show on my RR number. I spent a good 40 minutes on hold as they called Dallas and a number of supervisors..listening to their overly chummy and annoying hold messages..

But finally they came through and called me back. They cancelled my reservation and rebooked it on A list and even refunded my EBCI. Very nice of them. Then the woman on the phone told me that nobody in the CS department was informed of this promotion, and of another one that was similar so I suppose that will change now that they are aware of it.

My advice to people close to A list and who get this promotion is to call them up and make sure they see it on their end in your RR membership. Have them modify it if they don't. If you have flights booked in the 30 day time period, you will have to have them change the reservations for you.
At this time, it is not automatic.

Thanks for the heads-up on this. Good advice.

Once again, I prove to be completely wrong. Sorry.
