I am interrested in getting feedback on other renters in PHX with Hertz because I really feel that they are rarely/not upgrading. Maybe it is me (I am not sure why though) but I think I can be considered a good customer ... 64 Rentals with Hertz so far this year with more than half in PHX ... I usually rent full size and only get full size with most of the time no bells & whistles(no GPS, no XM, no sunroof ... plain full size like Corollas ... sometimes new though).
Do you have any luck renting in PHX with a PC status and get upgraded?
Would I have a better luck with Enterprise or Budget?
A co-worker that rents with Hertz in Vegas is telling me she has High Volume Status and gets pretty much what she wants (usually she shows up with MX35x, Convertible Volvo, etc.). I did not know about the High Volume Status but if I do not have that with the number of rentals I do per year ... why stick to one company for rentals ...
Feedback welcome!

I would call Hertz Customer Service and see if they have you listed as a Presidents Club member. I had to call and have them activate my Five Star status because it seems their system does not automatically put you into it.

I had an odd PC experience in phoenix. So I booked a full size car through my company website and it never showed up in my hertz profile, so I booked it directly with hertz next.
When I arrived, there were two spots right next to each other with my name on it. One was an impala and the other was an M35...needless to say, I took the M35.
Odd experience but it panned out for me. Good luck!

What? You're reserving fullsizes but getting Corollas? If you're getting Corollas then double check what class you are actually reserving in your profile. A Corolla is a midsize.
Coming down to Phx in less than a week (11/26 to 12/1) from Canada.
Just a Gold member, only a handful of rentals in past year (5 I think). A few Escalades for some fun weekend trips, then the standard midsized for longer trips . Decent coupon codes, but being new here, sounds like I could've made out a bit better.
Last was in PSP 2 months ago, rented a midsize and got upgraded to a Rogue. Was nice because we had our 2 month old baby and the extra cargo space helped.
Was hoping to rent a full size in PHX and then upgrade to premium. I have a coupon to do that, however Premium shows sold out on this date.
What usually happens? Am I out of luck, or will they use that upgrade to go to a luxury or an SUV (larger than a Rogue).
The other option is to take the $40 savings on the full size and be happy with it. I haven't really fussed about what I've been given, although it sounds like if I ask I can usually get something more. That said, with the talk here about horrible PHx customer service, not sure if I want to be running back and forth and dealing with grouchy counter staff, if the assigned full size isn't what I want...keep in mind I have a wife and baby waiting.
That all said, how busy is Thanksgiving Day? The HLE at our resort is closed that day, and I assume the major travel days are the Tue/Wed, where the staff would be less helpful. If it would be a slower day, I may get more assistance if I need it...or may get someone who's forced to work that days and either cranky about it or at least, lower down the ladder and less authorized to provide upgrades.
So to sum up:
What are my chances of getting a free upgrade to Premium (or above) using an upgrade coupon I have when I book a full size online, if the next size (Premium) shows as "not available" online to book?
What are my chances of a free/very cheap upgrade at the counter from the full size that I book (without using the above mentioned coupon, rather taking the $40 off), given its PHX, and given that its Thanksgiving day?
I am a car guy too...the National Emerald Club "Emerald Aisle" is also intriging to me so that I can walk up and pick something rather then wait to see what was assigned.
Thanks in advance. I have had no problem with Hertz in general, I just, like all of you, want to get the most bang for the buck.
