Miles & More (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, and other partners) - No more DER SPIEGEL Magazine on LH flights in 2010

DER SPIEGEL is reportedly going to cancel the contract (http://www.horizont.net/aktuell/medien/pages/protected/Spiegel-kappt-Bordauflage-und-riskiert-Million-Auflagengrenze_88140.html) to supply 80.000 copies of the magazine to LH every week.

DER SPIEGEL recons that most business class passengers subscribe or buy the magazine anyway.

Let's hope Mr Franz doesn't roll out the magazine available onboard LX flights to LH flights!:o

:(:(:(

Great - if people stop flying business class, just cut the few remaining perks :D

Among all the trash they are supplying SPIEGEL and Economist were the only magazines I was happy to read from time to time...

From my observations as long as they keep offering Bunte or Gala most C travellers should be fine...:D

Trouble is that LH seems to think that the Economist is a British magazine and therefore hardly ever offers it on flights other than from/to UK. That it may be a London-headquartered, but de facto global magazine hasn't appeared to them yet, what a pity.

I second the hopes that LH offer won't be replaced by LX offer, or other stuff such as the "Zeitschrift für das deutsche Nahrungsmittelgewerbe".

Absolutely! Or they introduce some magazines normally only found at AB.

Slightly off topic: Say what you want about AB but on a recent flight from TXL to ZRH I found that they not only had the German-language Swiss papers, but even Le Temps! Given the normal German ignorance about Switzerland and their assumption that Switzerland is some sort of alpine Southward extension with a funny accent that really suprised me. But maybe they learned from the disaster about their CEO writing in their German-language-only onboard magazine about Cataluna being just some silly little province and speaking their language was just as silly. Bravo to AB^

Personally I found that they had very few English language magazines in the Long Haul C cabin. Many copies of the same magazines, but except for The Economist and Forbes (I think) and maybe one more business/news type everything else was in German.

Just keep many copies of The Economist and everyone will be happy ;)

Gala or Bunte is much more important than The Economist and Der Spiegel ! :D
If LH cuts the supply of these gossip mongers then all hell will break lose. How else would we know who's banging whom ? :o

+1. If we would get rid of Gala on our company jets all hell would break lose.

Last time I found it behind "Autobahnen der DDR".

I love CX for their 100% availability of the Economist.

I didn't see any mention of the copies in the lounges.

anyone knows if they will stop, too?

I for one would not like that...
