Marriott Rewards - Heading Back To Hyatt

OK, heading back to Hyatt for the remainder of the year. Probably only 25 more nights this year with a status match to Diamond.
I will compare the programs and perks and if Hyatt Regency Club stays open on weekends with the free booze, I'll make the switch permanent.
I know Marriott would hate to see a 150 nights a year guy go, but Hotel time is critical to guys like me.
If the Gold Passport and perks are still the same after all these years, I use to be a 150 nights a year Hyatt guy then I'll make the switch.
My fingers are crossed and the winning formula is the Regency Club is open on weekends, important when I have the kids, free booze and better spread for snacks.
Plus I like the Hyatt Hawaii resorts much better than the Marriott and I want to go there more and stay at those resorts when I do.

There was no free liquor in the Regency Club at the Grand Hyatt in Seattle last night (I paid $4 for a Heineken), and in Santa Clara this weekend there were only soft drinks in a refrigerator and some cookies. You might have your sights aimed too high.

As mentioned, if it doesn't add up then I'll be back. In the old days it was great but I am managing my expectations on Gold Passport to be sure. $4 Heiny is do able, the $8 Sierra Nevada in Santa Clara Marriott this week was hard to look at.

Well, as a Hyatt Diamond, with their new benefits, you get free breakfast every day of the week even if there's no Regency Club, free internet, and free room upgrade and I've gotten suites. It's nice not to have to schlep out of the room in order to avoid the internet fees. Especially with what some of the international places charge for the internet.
Plus, with their FFN promotion going on right now, every 2 stays equals one free night at any Hyatt. Any Hyatt.
I'm only a Gold with Marriott, and this is my 1st year with them, but I just don't get the not on weekends thing. I do have to point out that I've only experienced this at 2 hotels so far; all the others gave me either club access or breakfast on weekends.

With each stay getting double credit until the end of Jan... you might not want to use up that status match.... 13 stays before the end of the year and you're diamond :D

Until Feb. 2011 for Hyatt, I believe ... also, if you instead do 13 nights (one night stay each) in January, you will be Diamond until Feb. 2012 ... this is in addition to the free night for every two stays mentioned above.

Got the Diamond match thru Feb 2011 and will be staying at the Hyatt Houston for the next three weeks, then Denver one week, then Santa Clara for four weeks so half way to Diamond 2012 as well. Yhanks for your help and info.
