Where you really denied with a Gold FB card! What are they thinking! Next time bring the harold october issue with you and show them the interview with the big boss. It states that your are a 'King'. I am sure Kings are allowed to be having a 2$ free drink?

A little off topic: US FB Gold are not Elite+ which you must hold to enter any Skyteam lounges. Don't know if this is new thing or if it always has been like this...

Does your gold card read Elite Plus under the Skytem logo on the top right corner?
Did you in fact fly on a skyteam carrier on the day of entry?
Was the lounge full at the time maybe (entry only if space available)?

It's even more complicated.

US and MEX FB Gold (=elite) are eligible to enter AF or KL lounges when flying ST.
They are not eligible to enter other skyteam lounges (KE DL...) when flying domestically or internationally. FB Gold E+ can enter skyteam lounge when flying internationally.

In case of partner lounge (ie contract signed btw KL and the airport lounge), which i believe is our case here in Quito, normally only J class pax could claim the divine and inaleniable right to enter.

But most of the times, AF KL will offer the contract lounge entrance to FB PLAT, GOLD E/E+, and Skyteam E+ flying Y...
...even if that is not part of the conditions of either Flying Blue or Skyteam rules.

So I see that event as fully "legal" (they suddenly enforce the rule by the book), nothing to complain about but I agree it's a dispiriting downgrade of service.

I guess the Quito lounge operates in the same way as the DUB lounge, as this doesn't belong to any specific airline and I have never been denied entry with my FB Gold (E+) card when on an AF flight disregarding class flown...
