Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Flight #831 JFK-HKG

My wife and I will be flying to Hong Kong in February and was wondering how early Cathay Pacific assigns seats? We are flying in first. Can anyone tell me the best seats for a couple?

Also, Have all the 777's been updated to the new suits?

Finally, we havent flown Cathay Pacific in first for a few years, what is the current Champagane?

For a February flight, seat assignment is currently available. Just call CX to ge tthem assigned. It usually opens 6 months in advance.

For couples, there are no great seats as the layout of the 777-300ER is 1x1x1. I would say that the center and right hand windows would be the best (either Row 1 or 2), or you can select 1A and 2A on the left side. The center seats only open to the right hand side, so there is less passenger traffic on the left side, but there are reports that the FAs use the left hand aisle when they need to transit between cabins and that can get annoying.

If it were me, I'd go for 1A and 2A. You can eat your meals together, with one of you sitting on the buddy seat of the other's suite.

My 3 upcoming 777 flights in F with mrs. gleff are reserved in 1D/1K.

My upcoming 74A flight in F - seats 1A/K.

I vote for 1A and 2A. It will feel like a private cabin, as no other seats open up to your left aisle. In 4 long haul flights, I did not notice at all the problem described by others concerning FAs walking up the left aisle. On all my 77A flights, I have always sat in 1A.

Even though Mrs. PresRDC and I could have gotten on the JFK-HKG non-stop, we decided to route through SFO because the 74A layout is better for couples. We'll be in 1A/K as well.

Coming home, we're on different flights on different days, so we're both on HKG-JFK flights.
