Just got an email invite to do a new survey on the Ambassador program. For ethical reasons -- I am in the survey business for one -- I will not reveal any details of the survey other than it contained a series of menus offering various benefits for a more appealing Ambassador program. The only problem I found from the opening questions was that it assumed one was not a current Ambassador as there was no option to identify oneself as such in the range of responses offered. Very bad design.

BTW one does get 1K for answering and it takes about 20-minutes.

Just took it as well. There was an early question on what were the main reasons you became an Ambassador when you first joined and later questions that asked scenarios as if your renewal was due today -- so I think it assumes the survey taker is already a member of the Ambassador program. And given the questions asked (which are a range of new/enhanced benefits but often with a trade-off for existing benefits or slightly higher annual cost) I would think this survey is only going to existing Ambassadors.

Ditto. Some interesting options in there - a few price points at which I'd be biting their arm off to renew at given the proposed benefits!

Pity they didn't offer the option to have all the suggested benefits at a higher price.

Just completed & rather liked some of the proposed options & packages but honestly, free internet should be a given, just like Fairmont Presidents Club, not a special benefit.

Presumably not going to all Ambs, as I haven't received this

Never got those earlier questions. It was phrased from the start as if I was not a member and in the first Q did not give the option of being a member.

Same thing here.

Took it and would love to see my preffered option really come true. Oh well, at least dreaming of it is allowed.

Just did the survey and for me it was phrased "if I were to renew my membership today what would I pick"
Certainly liked the option of free internet that popped up once in awhile.

That's the survey I got. In fact, it explicitly mentioned it was for current Ambassadors.

I like they are considering some new options.
My preference was "club access" and "guaranteed upgrade"
I agree free internet should be a given...

Have to admit I was ticking the definitely box for the packages that combined "guaranteed upgrade" and "club access". Has to be the most interesting hotel program survey I've taken.:)

Interesting also was the initial 'what benefits one currently enjoys' section(ie they're presumably sniffing around to see which ones can be painlessly cut without a membership furore).Going by the wise addage that if one gives an inch they will take a mile, naturally everything was given equally high status ...all the way down to the humble bottle of water.:)

Just took it as described. Free club access is my hot button.

I bet if AMB`s benefits included free club access, the annual fee must at least inflate to US500.

IIRC the max fee proposed in the survey of preferences was $250 or $200.

I didn't get it either, but I am a quite new Ambassador...

I would gladly have payed $500 if I was guarantied club-access!

I think if you're paying for Ambassador, the guaranteed (rather than subject to availability) room upgrade is a must. Club and internet access were the other two areas I flagged as important on the survey. If you could get all three of these for max $250, even if one or two other benefits were trimmed, I believe this would still offer good value.

After the much-hyped relaunch of Ambassador earlier in the year, IHG have obviously got plans for a further changes before too long.

I also welcomed the idea of Club Access, I would rather have that than a room upgrade as mostly the beds are good also in the lower category rooms.

Then again not all ICs have clubs. No use in HAM, NYC, AMS, Berchtesgaden just to name a few.

No survey here. sounds interesting though. Agree with most choices. Internet should even be given to PC Plats by default at every ICHG hotel and not only for Amb at ICs.

If it is truly a guaranteed upgrade confirmed at booking I would say they are moving in the right direction.

Hello

So we all love to see guaranteed upgrade and club access and mostly seem to be willing to pay for it a bit more than the current 150$/100$.

Just wondering on club capacity. Furthermore proper clear rules must be in place if upgrade is really not possible (rebate, extra points etc.) they just need to be clear and followed.

I, too, received the invitation and participated. I, too, made clear my priorities for guaranteed UGs and Club access.

We'll see how it plays...

I got the survey but wasnt quick enough to get it filed out. I was staying at an IC at the time and the PC there wasnt working so I couldnt check my emails. Probably a good thing I cant fill it out now:p

Also was invited (some time ago, it ended up in my spam box). Was in time for filling it out, and I went for the Guaranteed Upgrade at any price. Club access is always a tricky one - if the club is very good and access is free then there is no space, and then they reduce the offering, or set some restrictions for use and the cycle starts again. For RAs they usually do club access anyhow (although it says nowhere that is the case).

I got to take the survey as well. I also went for the guaranteed room upgrade as well as the free night voucher.
