jetBlue announced today that they are increaseing their service in Boston by 30% next year. The carrier already has the largest share of seats from the airport and this should cement their place as the number one carrier in town. Here are the routes/frequencies being added:
Two additional daily flights to Chicago/O'Hare (for a total of three)
Two additional daily flights to Raleigh/Durham (for a total of three)
One additional daily flight to Baltimore/Washington (for a total of five)
One additional daily flight to Charlotte (for a total of three)
One additional daily flight to Denver (for a total of two)
One additional daily flight to Fort Lauderdale (for a total of four)
One additional daily flight to San Diego (for a total of two)
One additional daily flight to San Francisco (for a total of two)
One additional daily flight to Washington/Dulles (for a total of seven)
Four additional weekly flights to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (for a total of one daily)
One weekly flight to Montego Bay, Jamaica (for a total of one weekly) (a)
And more to come!
This is pretty significant. They're doing it all without actually adding any planes next year so there may be routes cut to facilitate this.

Congrats to all the BOS PAX. You deserve it. After so much time of just one departer to so many places, you're gaining extra flexability. Loyalty has its rewards. Here's hoping it lasts.
As for B6... Fantastic move. BOS is your's for the taking.

This makes sense, especially with the recent Red Sox sponsorship. I once heard that pretty much anything out of NY works just as well out of BOS (on a little smaller scale, of course). That contradicts a stat a few years back that 17 of the last 20 markets including BOS were unprofitable. JetBlue is loved up there; and, what's interesting is the PR says "more to come"

PLEASE add PHL to that list! I've said it before and I'll say it again...PHL NEEDS JETBLUE!

Does this mean B6 will be moving up some deferred plane deliveries or cutting service somewhere else?
I guess JFK service will be reduced somewhat next year during the airport construction work. With a runway shut down for 120 New York days (which in real world time could be the whole year), I suppose they may as well move some more capacity to BOS to ease the congestion at JFK.

Likely the latter. During the press conference last week they were pretty clear that they didn't want to deal with financing new planes right now.
They also suggested that they'd be down to about 155 daily departures (I don't remember the exact number, but it is something like that) during the runway construction period.

Too bad they could shift some of that traffic to LGA (providing they get some extra slots) or EWR.
On another note... The Boston expansion wasn't noted as a seasonal expansion or a permament one. I'm guessing that they will be looking to see which route show great numbers and which ones don't to give the B6 Bigwigs guidence on that issue.

I am strongly agree with you. I think B6 will eventually to be next new destinations cities to be announced. I think B6 is considered for PHL, STL, MCI, DFW, ABQ, ATL, and few others cities to be choose.

Interesting thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/american-aadvantage/1011533-looks-like-more-bos-cuts-will-coming.html) going on about this in the AA forum.

I wonder if they'll reinstate BOS-Phoenix since that's a US Airways monopoly and likely a future route for Southwest. Houston Hobby would be a good route to add as well along with Rochester and Syracuse. Maybe another LAX flight will be added for a total of two.
The Denver market would be really interesting if Frontier/Republic added nonstop to Boston, going from 5-6 daily flights to 10-11 when Jetblue adds another and Southwest adds two.

SO unfortunately, B6 doesn't have any more specific new routes to be reinstates BOS-PHX but, it has been discontinuation due to poorly performance. I don't think anything possibilities to be reintroduce service for BOS-PHX. I think WN is considering for BOS-PHX/LAS/LAX anytime soon or even more Florida flights out of BOS-FLL/PBI/MCO/TPA. It should have to take the advantage of WN is taking some of routes from BOS.

Now if they just would setup some sort of elite program (checkin, security, priority boarding, best seats)...I know myself and many of my colleagues would shift a significant amount of our travel to them.

Reading between the lines it seems that something along those lines is coming in the Q1 timeframe, after the SABRE cutover is done and they have a system in place that will support it.
I'd like to see a non red eye return flight from vegas, I usually fly usair home or take the connecting flight in JFK.

I hear B6 will have to be reductions the frequencies during in Spring/Summer 2010. Here some of specific routes to be reductions:
BOS-SXM
BOS-NAS
BOS-SJU.
I am not familiarization for which specific routes to be changes.

Wow. As a BOS traveler, I'm surprised B6 is doing this. How are they planning to do this with gates? It can be more empty during the day, but it will be interesting to see what will happen.
I'm surprised B6 is not getting more planes either. I find that to be one of the key things missing. They should be adding more planes. That way they can expand to even more cities and even more routes.

I believe they are cutting down on JFK flights due to the runway construction next summer . (I noticed they had cut down on the Denver flights ) . They also normally cut down on Florida flights during the summer .

Yes, that way B6 could enter Ch 11 bankruptcy protection that much sooner. Why do you want B6 to go bankrupt?

I really don't think he's looking for B6 to go under like your claiming he is wanting. If that were the case and you're right, they would have done so 9 years ago when they had one plane going between JFK and BUF/FLL.
What tjisnumbaone is getting at is that they are doing perceivably more without more planes. Now you and he are looking at this from different angles. You're looking at it either B6 can't not make any more with more planes period or they are replacing flights with lesser yeilds with ones with potentially better yeilds (neither is can be bad way to look at it). Now flip side to adding more planes, which tjisnumbaoneis eluding to, is that you're avoiding dropping one (presummably) positive yeilding route for another.
Person A at Station X is being put out b/c B6 projects a better business oppurtunity with Person B at Station Y. That is what is happening versus the theory of why not serve both.
Yes, that way B6 could enter Ch 11 bankruptcy protection that much sooner. Why do you want B6 to go bankrupt? You should have included "Why do you hate America?" in your so-very-subtle, not-at-all-over-the-top response. :)

As I said. B6 would not add flights to BOS if the local economy was in terrible shape and less people were interested to fly B6.

How about BOS-DTW? These flights are extremely expensive due to DL monopoly.

I don't think so . Jetblue has tended to avoid the NW hubs . Perhaps WN may do the route .

Yes, I agree with you. WN will have to be consider bring more route BOS-DTW anytime soon. If they will have enough O/D daily passengers traffic. It won't have chance to begin new route anytime soon. It will have to less more competitive against NW/DL are already existing service.

Honestly, I think WN would be a better fit than B6 right now at DTW. They have a bigger network and more planes they can ultilize. B6 seems like they are going to be thin on planes for the next year or so with the new routes to the Carribean and expanded service out of BOS. The two things that I wouldn't be suprised to see happen at DTW, if WN went there, would be a drop in fares on DL's part and Spirit would pull out.

I think it would great to bring more specific new routes in the future. I think it would be perfect opportunity to bring more new B6 cities in the future.
