Qantas Frequent Flyer - Sydney-Frankfurt: Y rows 26-27 on QF5/6?

Hi,

I will be travelling SYD-FRA soon on QF5/6 and was hoping to pre-allocate a seat in the Y 'mini-cabin' rows 26-27. These seats show as blocked (not allocated) on EF, but I was not able to choose them online in 'Select Seats'. I have QF Gold status, and wondered if anyone knows how/when these seats are allocated.

Most likely they're blocked for WP/CL members to select - you could call and ask, or try again at OLCI.

As a WP I can generally preallocate almost any in this zone; Qantas new (last year) Altea system blocks various seating depening upon a pecking order of which status makes up but a part.

Your priority may change over time, so check often.

Also, have you tried calling Qantas to see what the can do?

(As an aside/data point, being an SG, what is the furthest forward you can allocate?)

A little OT, but I've just made reservations in D on QF6 SIN-SYD under the BA codeshare (don't ask why...). The BA web MMB would not give me access to the seats in Rows 1-4 whereas if I logged into the QF web MMB I could pre-allocate anything in Rows 1-4.

I did call today and was told that seats in rows 26-28 were not available to me. They suggested that I could ask again at check-in time. My allocated seat (for the outward flight in late November) is in row 41, and they could offer nothing further forward. Maybe it's worth calling again in a week or so, what do you think?

I have fly this route quite regularly and used to always pre-allocate to Row 26 with my QP status. This changed when Altea came online and I was no longer able to. Recently I have just been paying the $160 extra for an exit row.

Yep. To book an exit row seat call 1300 799 798 within Australia, or your local Qantas office, Monday to Friday between 8am and 6pm (AESDT) from seven days up to 24 hours before your flight departure.

Used to regularly travel on QF5/6 and always in rows 26-28, despite only being a PS. Missed out last trip due to 4-class aircraft used but was given the exit row as compensation. Just ask nicely at check-in and QP and the seats should be available.
