Hey, I've searched through this forum but didn't manage to find an answer. Is there a way to book a specific fare with BMI (i.e. W instead of G, at the time when G is still available)? I used to do that using awad.ru, but got fed up with them asking me to e-mail them a copy of my ID every time I pay with my UK card.

I'd also be interested in how people search/book specific fares.

I know websites like opodo specify the fare basis code, however rather than completing multiple searches, does anyone use a travel agent to get good prices but for specific codes?

(If you don't want to post specific details for fear of opening the floodgates, I'd appreciate a PM!)

Do you think guys in bmi Reservations could sell a particular fare for me? Do they charge extra for booking over the phone?

Do you think guys in bmi Reservations could sell a particular fare for me?They should be able to do that. Alternative is to use a TA.

No idea about BMI telephone fees, never booked a paid bmi flight that way.

BTW: if you're just trying to find the published fares for a particular booking class, use ITA. Route spec something like 'LHR::BD /F BC=W'.

frankvb, thank you. Actually am a bit surprised bmi doesn't allow choosing a specific fare on their web-site. What is the point of giving different amount of miles for different fare classes if there's no way to book them?

Lots of airlines don't allow you to select a specific fare on their website. It isn't unique to bmi, quite the opposite I would think.

Personally, I'd just use a TA as frankvb has suggested.

I have booked in a specific class by phoning them - the only way to do it AFAIK. Their website used to offer a range of class options when they still did Tiny fares that didn't have lounge access for silver.

Yes, quite true. Still, most of airlines would group their fares in a way, you could still book a fare to get you 0%, 50% or 100%. Say Swiss offers promo. restricted, standard or flexible economy and all their classes are hooked to a particular range of fares. With bmi it is weirdly either 25% or 150% (G or S).

I haven't a clue. This was an exercise in trying to pay more than I had to in order to get a specific number of miles for a renewal. If there was an extra charge, it was nothing compared to the price of K class over and above the N class that I could have had.

Thanks you everyone for your help and advice. I ahve just booked my fly with BMI reservation and there's no surcarge for doing that over the phone. Took me less than 10 minutes; so if you want to book a flight to get 100% miles in economy - go ahead and give bmi a call. they are extremely effective there.
