Good people of the bmi-board,

I need some help on a ticket that I currently have booked - I saw a thread while back that dealt with this but can no longer find this.

My situation is as follows;

+ I currently have two tickets booked LX F C+M
- Booked with two PNR's
- Booked before the increase in F cost

+ Route is CPH-ZHR-JNB-CPT for both tickets

+ I'd like to change the tickets to:
- CPH-ZHR-JNB-WDH//stopover//-CPT
- Other Zone 2-MUC-ZHR-JNB-WDH//stopover//-CPT

In case of the second ticket, my partner has moved and it would be better for him to start his flight in the city he will be - all I know for now is that he will require an MUC or FRA connection in order to get to ZHR so that is not voluntarily.

I'd also like to add in a stopover in Windhoek (still the same zone). Except for the very painful phone calls I am in for; are these changes possible without incurring a cancellation (as I do not have the required miles to make a new booking).

Thanks for your help,

Eric

My understanding is:

1. You should be able to change your ticket without too much trouble, so long as the ICC don't deem the trip up to Namibia as back tracking (though it should be OK).
2. You may find that they request the additional miles+cash - this is a bit variable. See this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/bmi-diamond-club/947755-changing-post-may-1st-redemption.html) and the original change in F redemption thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/bmi-diamond-club/927619-change-cost-all-f-awards-x2-5-lh-f-also-carrys-10k-surcharge-per-f-sector.html) for details.
3. You can not change the initial departure or end point on a booking, so you will have to cancel your partner's trip if you want to change it. The new booking will definitely attract the higher redemption rates.

Cheers,

PS found the threads by searching for "x2.5"

Thanks for your reply - from what I remember reading on here, I should not have to pay more miles by changing the ticket.

Is the definitive answer that I can't change departure city even if the departure is in the same zone? Annoying of course for me, but guess I will have to play by the rules. I will also look into the cost/benefit of cancelling one ticket versus his new repositioning flight.

Just remember that if you cancel, there's no guarantee that the seat will go straight back into award inventory to allow you to rebook.

That's not a problem, travel is for November but being changed to March anyway but thanks.

Can someone confirm that it's possible to change the date of an award booking (even if it means change of carrier)? How much do you have to pay for this?

Thanks

£20 change fee (per person) plus any additional taxes that BMI deems necessary - if exchange rates/fuel surcharges have changed etc since the original booking this could be quite a bit more. If theoretically you should get a tax refund you'll have to fight BMI all the way for it.

NB: This is only if changing dates / routings.... changing the start city/end city will almost certainly be classed as a cancellation (£25 per person, everything refunded)... though you might be able to add on another flight at the start within a zone as a change if you got lucky...
