As it says on the tine really!

I got my Gold stuff in the post (I know.. in the middle of a postal strike too!) and was surprised that there were luggage tags in there...

Does anyone actually use them?

Thanks,

I use the Amb tag on my roller, the PC Plat tags are on my kids' sport bags :)

I'd sooner poke my eyes out. But they DO sell on Ebay :)

Happy poking Ian !

I use mine on most of our luggage -- I have found them to be robust and reliable, and give the kids something bright to look for on the carousel.

They send more each membership year, so I have a large collection of both gold and platinum tags now (although it is so easy to reach these levels, I am not under any illusions about the perceived status of these pieces of plastic !!).

I didn't even realise that you get a tag as a PC Plat (only fairly recently qualified). I don't even know where my Amb tag is.

I was in need of a tag a few years ago as my address changed and they were convenient. I am not sure if PC Plat tags on a hiker's backpack makes a statement or not.

I received a plastic PC Gold tag many, many years ago but have never received one since then. I do get Ambassador/RA ones every year and do use the silver ones on both my checked bag and carry-on, along with my AC SE tag. (Sometimes I will go retro and use the real sterling silver SCC tag some of us received on the anniversary of that program, along with my very old AC enRoute Club maroon tag, and silver Concorde one!

i only travel with carryon on domestic flight. no reason to use it. on long trip i am afraid to use the tag. it might give the TSA people more reason to open my luggage and steal stuff.

Stealing stuff from an IHG Plat? It's not the most prestigious loyalty programme ;)

I don't use mine as I have a selection of my ace Flyertalk ones, Radisson Gold and Virgin ones. Got my selection of rucksacks, pull alongs and mahoosive suitcases nicely covered :D

In my RA renewal pack I notice just about everything refers to AMBASSADOR, rather than ROYAL AMBASSADOR. Even the luggage tag has only the A logo on it.

Are these cost-cuts - or a hint to me :) ?

Has anyone here ever gotten any sort of special treatment at a PC hotel because they had a platinum or ambassador luggage tag ?

Noboby but the hotel porter would see it anyway...and I doubt he/she would serve you better because of it.

I use my Plat tags with a return address label on the back on my kids bags.

I use them as many airlines no longer provide them.

If they are with your referral cert I'll happily assist with all the clutter!!:D

I recently had to gate check a carryon, which was naturally lost. It's not a bad idea to tag your carryon just in case! My carryon is currently rockin' one of these:

A bit more interesting than a PC tag :D

As I've noted on several occasions the two are actually different, one has a mat finish (RA) while the other (A) is reflective. Now I am not sure if anyone else recognizes this fact, but some graphic design firm was paid a small fortune to create such subtle differentiations!

Can we buy extra ambassador tags through PC or IC? I need two more for other bags. I've googled it and searched here but come up dry. Sorry for the threadjack.

I'm not sure but there's always some on auction on eBay.

Back on topic, personally I only use luggage tags for carry-ons since luggage handlers in Vietnam (where I travel to on a monthly basis) always steal them. I've had a few stolen so I don't bother to put them on check-in bags anymore.

Hmm, must not have gotten them. A call to PC is in order...
