Anyone know of a cheaper alternative to overnight parking at hotels in the FQ or CBD?

Nope, and if I were parking overnight down there, I'd want my vehicle to be safe & secure.

I guess I should actually try to answer your question. You can park on the streets after 6 PM until, I think, 8 AM. I wouldn't do it, but you asked for cheaper alternatives to hotel parking.

There are many private lots and garages. Most aren't cheap, but will be less than hotel parking.

Harrah's garage has reasonable rates, and I believe if you sign up for a players card, you can park for free if you gamble for 30 minutes (even nickel slots).

One out-of-the-box idea: a ticket for an unpaid meter or for parking in a freight zone is just $20, if paid online within a week of issuance. That's not a bad deal, when CBD hotels may charge $30 or $35 for overnight parking. I'm not sure I'd risk that in the Quarter, where getting towed is probably more likely.

Legal street parking can also be found on weekends in the CBD.

Overnight street parking in New Orleans CBD: OK for a rental car with insurance. No way for a personal car.
